_Tone_
Hi Guys I thought it may be useful to let you know - I was out in our 2.0tdi dsg A3 the other day and the turbo decided to switch off. I drove for a few miles feeling that I had an engine transplant (couldn't get over 60mph) The gears changed but no power. As it happens I was off to the dealer for an auto gearbox oil change (40,000 miles already) so I pointed it out to the dealer when I arrived. On the way into the dealer I pulled over and restarted the car and it was fine, but it scared the heck out of me. the dealer did all the relevant diagnosis and it appears the max boost was reached and the turbo shutdown!! No other explanation was given. We have an 04 plated A3. Hope non of you get this but who knows! Tone
Hopsta
Very bizarre, did they offer no explanation at all? hose lose or something? The car will shutdown certain things and go into limp mode, reduce boost etc. Just enough to make you aware there's a problem and get it booked in
Gren
Posted a thread in the diesel forum about this the other month. Had two 407 HDis as hire cars recently and both did it on at least one occasion - whenever I gave them some stick, especially up hills. Seems to be par for the course on that engine. _Tone_
Hiya As I said they read the diagnostics and the only thing they could see was it did happen as a result of max boost being reached. It was almost like the turbo had overdone it! I came out of our road accross a dual carriageway and booted it (to avoid some traffic) it was cold, but then I have done that a few times and not had any issues. I tend to drive the Golf cos her indoors wont let the audi out of her grip! and that has never done it. I figured I'd let you guys know cos if it happens you'll know about it and perhaps just pull over and do a windows XP on it! Tone
