PaulKnight
I'm new to this forum but have been directed here for advice regarding my 2.5 TDi motor. Basically, I'm wondering what would be the best 1st step to make more power – without damaging things. Mine appears to be an early'ish motor and I was wondering how best to increase boost pressure (or would air filter etc. be a better idea, first?). Maybe also you guys might be able to tell me exactly where my engine came from? This sounds confusing but it was fitted into a VW van in Germany prior ot my ownership so I'm unsure as to which model it came from. Here's a pic Also, if it helps, here is the dashboard (from the same car) I have a yellow jack plug hanging in the glovebox which I have plugged into a revo-technik computer, however that suggested it to be an earlier model, for which they had no 'chip' program. So, any ideas? Is 'chipping' a possibility? What is my motor (!) or should I just leave it as is!! Incidentally, here's the overall vehicle (for those interested). The Audi motor is mated to a 6-speed G50 Porsche gearbox and I also have Porsche 'big reds' all round... all I need now is a bit more power to help keep up with my frieds Porsche-powered vans! thanks in advance
Paul
looks like it could be the A4 2.5 Tdi at at guess. a remap would probably be your first step
PaulKnight
any suggestions as to where I should look for 'chip tuning'? Is the remap done via the jack plug (ie download/upload through service socket), or am I way off the mark? It's all new to me, I'm more used to big carbs and 4 cylinders! Paul
id approach somone like AmD in Bicester who are used to VW/Audi's and more importantly engine conversions, as yours is definitely a "hybrid" as for tuning, depends on age, and ecu type, Amd will serial tune it if possible, via the diagnostics, or remove the chip and reflash it, if it cant be done via serial port. www.amdtechnik.com
neo283
Love the camper! Very classy! I'm no expert and haven't had one myself but Superchips seem to have a large range, and tend to cater for those who Revo don't. If you're struggling, give them a try Superchips When I was putting the feelers out for a possible remap on mine, I was advised to do some physical modifications to the engine before the remap so that the new map can take these improvements into account, rather than working off stock items. I would regard this as exhaust & air intake in the first instance. Obviously this may all be useless to you seeing as though you don't actually know what the engine is!!!
