Hi Guys

I was wondering what sort of MPG you are getting in your 2.0 TDi's. I read in this months What Car that if your car does not do the MPG suggested in the car specification these are grounds for its return.

Now If I sit on the motorway and run it at 80mph I can get 39/41MPG. If I sit at 55MPH I can get 48MPG.

In our A3 at 80 MPH we get 48-50MPG at 55MPH we get 54-56 MPG.

Its really pee'ing me off this economy (or lack off!) so your numbers would be good. I spoke to some at VW UK and they said on theoir 2.0TDi they were getting ITRO 49 MPG on a trip which ran at 90MPH!!

Thanks

Tone

Have you checked it fill to fill, or just using the display?

My MPG arn't relevant as mines a 1.9 but my display readings have changed from always reading 1-2 mpg over correct MPG to now reading between 2-5 MPG under the correct (calculated) MPG. Mine seems to run at 5 MPG wrong on the display if i am towing, dont know why confused.gif

So guys

If I am getting very poor MPG what sort of line should I take with the stealer? I have been down this road ad thus far they have told me to feck off basically - there is nout they can do about it. In the early days they said "run it in to 12000 miles" well now its on 33500 and its still crap MPG.

So back to my orig question, should I contact the stealer with the attitude that the car is not performing to specification and on that basis I want it repaired or a replacement car?

Am I asking too much do you reckon? As I stated earlier our A3 runs at an average of 10mpg better, which does not equate to a load of money I guess but it's enought to give me the hump!

Cheers

Oh I will also do a manual measurement this week when I refill and check it as opposed to viewing the fuel computer. That may help!

This week I went to warrington and leicester (from Northampton) and the computer says I ghave 85 miles of fuel having covered 370 miles for the two trips. I did put my foot down on the m6 toll a little but other then that have done decent mph without overdoing it. I Averaged in these runs 39MPG. I think that is poo!

Cheers
