My plan to to get a test drive in the new year. I want to plan a route I know and like, and drive my R32 along it prior to the test drive and then, come TD take the MKV R32 along the same route, hopefully in the same conditions.

Would like a nice, clear cold day, no snow or rain but some damp patches and the like so I can compare the handling as well as the drive, pull, brakes etc.

Not looking to buy one but wnat to know how it compares 1st hand.

Will report thu night.

I'm obviously going to have a differnt view point to a current mk4 owner as i'm sure i'm going to be wowed by the engine wink.gif although I did try a 147 GTA some time back .... such a beatifully awful car wink.gif

Current car is a cherished 306 gti-6 that I've had for eight years from new.

Had a very quick go in a DSG gti to try the box the other week and it felt quick but not 2 secs quicker than the Pug It definately gave a good shove in the back but not quite the wallop I was expecting .... still hopefullly the 4wd should help wink.gif

TG mag say that the R32 is 5mm lower than the GTI .... hope it's not a bone shaker/road skipper like the Alfa good handling does not have to mean zero susp travel wink.gif

I've also done a few sprints and hilllclimbs and sprints in a Westfield.

So not the worlds greatest driver or reporter but probably your average car nut tsn'er 169144-ok.gif

I've just posted in 'Spotted' but I shall tell everyone here also, Caffyns in Haywards Heath may have a demo 5dr in DBP with DSG. Service manager didn't know for sure. It had been PDI'd and all the service guys were taking it in turns to nail about in it. I might organise a drive just for fun.

We have just had our allocation from VW for how many R32s we are getting next year, It is only 5 and we are a fairly large dealer selling over 700 new vehicles per year, our other smaller branch has only got 1 to sell next year, so I think they will be very hard to get hold of unless you order quickly!

There was one in my dealer Bebington(Wirral) was due to be a demo, but was bought by a customer after 2 days of being on site. They also told me they had only 5 for sale for the whole of nexy year too. The dealer still showed me the car and it sounded awesome too when he started it up, very nice car.

Just got back from the dealership, sales exec i've been dealing with says they'll have a DSG model in next week and I can arrange a test drive for Tues :-) , said their allocation is going to be 20 for next year and that they'll all taken. I'm 5th in the list so looks good , can't wait. Had a deposit down for 6 wks now, but can't place order until next week.

I was asking him about seat options, Recarro's , Leather etc.. I thought the MK4 came with leather as standard? he was saying it was an upgrade, can anyone clarify???
