SL26UK
What do you think of this? & will it be hard to fit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLF-MK5-NEW-PASSA...1QQcmdZViewItem
RedRobin
Hmm....I think it's only a cosmetic 'mod'. What on earth is wrong with the existing red light? The stronger blue light might light up the car's cabin more and attract more attention even. Does it use more juice?
b5rkr
just browsed, they look quite cool. ill wait until i get my car today and then decide if i will buy it, if i do i let you know what its like or vice versa.
b5rkr
its a little something different. If you are saying it "may light up the cabin more and attract more attention" from thieves, then i think a torch and a brick would be easier for the scum to work with than a littel blue flashing led. GTiMK5
[ QUOTE ] What on earth is wrong with the existing red light? [/ QUOTE ] You could say the same for the standard exhaust though Red. Everybody has their own individual tastes. Just because someone wants to change something doesnt mean there is anything wrong with the original part. I dont see how a little blue flashing light is necessarily going to attract more attention. It is a GTI, the 17/18s, the GTI badge etc will attract lots of attention as it is. Also I would say that quad pipes are going to attract more attention too. RedRobin
You are absolutely right! I can't argue with that! I might even get one of these blue lights myself, once someone else has and reported! Cheers mate

b5rkr
Hi all / install blue led light today. wasnt as easy as described on ebay, ended up having to take out the complete door panel! !! wasnt that bad though.i have no previous experience of altering any car in any way, but when i prised up the existing red led cap and watching promptly disconnect its self a fall into the door cavity i new it was going to be a long (cold) day. well to cut a long long story short it took in excess of an hour( but if i knew what i was doing and had the right tools it would have been less than half of that!!!)well its all fitted and working perfectly. all i can add is that its so much brighter than the red led. which in my opinion is a good thing. RedRobin
Are you able to post a step by step description about installing it please? Having originally slagged off the idea I now think it sounds very useful - I'm constantly straining my neck to see if I locked the car.

RedRobin
Some call it Modding....I think my next big change will be suspension....I'd rather do that before any future re-map. All in good time - No plans yet.

[/ QUOTE ] ....Thanks for that - A great write-up. However, having driven West Tuning's re-mapped and modified car and witnessed Ray's work on a fellow TSNer's GTI on their dog's bollox rolling road, I'm quite certain where I shall be going when I feel ready.
