From what I have read they are doing this as a standalone race for this year, and have a few provisional races for next year penciled in, one being Silverstone in May I think.

Now no traction control, slick tyres, 600bhp 3,0ltr+ engine and some world class drivers. I hope your watching Bernie and Max. grin.gif

Alain Prost is joining the series next year apparently. And going on his performance at the DTM masters at the Norisring, were he destroyed Mansell, Fitipaldi and Mick Doohan, he will walk it. He is the most race fresh having competed in the French GT championship all year.

It will be interesting to see how the rest fair. Without Prost, I think it will be between Cheever, Johansson and Lammers, though I hope Herr Stuck shows well.

Oh and Murray is back behind the mic. 4:00 on BBC2 this Sunday.

Definately got more interesting towards the end, Kyalami wasn't a great choice of track though as it just doesn't have the overtaking positions really.

Really good cars to watch though, and the drivers certainly weren't hanging around, lots of opposite lock on display inc. that big slide from Stuck while trying to get Lammers at the downhill right.

Don't know when De Cesseris got so good though, in F1 he used to be dung.gif

They may all be getting on, and the cars may not be the most technologically advanced but they still managed more overtaking than pretty much any F1 race this season.

I for one am certainly glad they made it this far, and hope that the races to come are all this and more. laugh.gif

I liked it and the last few laps were great, to say that some of them haven't raced for a few years they did bloddy well. Kyalami isn't known for it's overtaking places so it was a bit like F1 frown.gif De Cesaris (De Crasharis) was indeed crap in the early days in F1, and only was hired for the money he brought from Marlborough due to his family imrprting them into Italy. But towards the end he was a pretty safe bet for team owners to bring it home.

Put em on a track like Spa and I'm sure we would see some action.

You could see that they were taking it easy at the start.

But this is the first time that some of them had raced in years and fitness could be an issue for some. It was the first race of the car / tyres etc. in anger.

But all in all a great watch, so nice to hear them wheel spinning a little and controling it, so much better that the electronic farting engines in F1.

Can't wait to see the races next year if they go ahead, and it was nice to hear Murray again, he is still a star even at 82.

F1 will always or rather should be the pinnicle of motor sport in open wheels at least, but it shows they have some things to learn from several other formula's. 169144-ok.gif
