[Audi A3/S3] Creeky Steering?

Apparently it's not a safety issue. I have the same problem in my 2006 A3 and have been told by the dealer that it is a common fault with A3's and Golfs and that the probelm has been sent to Germany for them to investigate it.

It is suspected that the problem is down to the stearing rack but they are still not sure. I have been told it normally takes about a month from the time it is reported to Audi in Germany to the time they get around to solving the problem. My dealer said they won't do anything to the car until they know exactly what is wrong. It is annoying but it's just one of those things!!!

Has anyone else been told the same information?
