Sponge
The sliding, locking bolt on my filler cap door has started making a goddamn awful noise when I open the car! At first I wondered what the hell it was. It's loud, rough, grating, squeaking noise, I initially feared was coming from the drivers door. But upon careful listening, I narrowed it down to the filler cap door. If I slightly rotate the rod and close/open again, the noise stops. But eventually it comes back. The rod could even be bent. If you imagine twisting it, it should rotate evenly; like rolling a rod on a table top. But it twists slightly. I can't see how it could have bent though. It's fully automated, simply moving in and out with the locking and unlocking of the doors. It can't be something I've done, I've only filled the car twice and both times the filler cap door has been properly closed. It seems to be getting worse, but annoying as it is, does it warrant a visit to the dealer?
CraigR
[ QUOTE ] does it warrant a visit to the dealer? [/ QUOTE ] On a new car, i would be going back yes, even if its something silly thats wrong, i would rather get it checked. If it is bent, it's not been someone trying to force it open is it
Sponge
There are no signs of attempted entry. I'm not 100% sure it is bent. There might just be a lot of play in it. I might try some silicon spray first. If it doesn't help, then I guess a dealer visit is called for.
lottiefox
If you don't sort it take it back - my new QS had a terrible rattle/creak around the ashtray. Got them to sort that. The loan A3 they gave me for the day had the worse rattle from the seatbelt and handbrake ever with 1500 miles on the clock!

[/ QUOTE ] One of my colleagues had the fuel line under the petrol tank on his car cut this week. The RAC man he called out said the pipe had been cut by a knife and that someone had drained out his petrol! Ian
