CarMad
For the PC have a look at Dell Outlet. I got a Dell 5000 its very very quiet, I.E. almost silentm it has a 3GHZ P4, 1Gb Memory, 160Gb HD, and lots of other bits for only £375 I think it was. You can use your existing screen or get a new one for not much these days, I highly recommend it. As for transfering the data, I would use a network HUB if you have one ?!? Check you current PC has a network connction in the back. You can get a Hub for £10 and just network the 2 PCs up will be easy. Have to say have haven't done any USB - USB PC connections, others might be able to help on that one.
pingpongpo
I got mine from Dell for just over £600 3.0Ghz P4, 2Gb Ram, 256Mb GC, 17"TFT, 160Gb Sata HDD, DVD-RW + other stuff I had to transfer about 40Gb of video and music files which I did using a simple crossover network cable connecting the two together. Dragged and dropped the files from one to the other.
mulkbear
[ QUOTE ] I got mine from Dell for just over £600 3.0Ghz P4, 2Gb Ram, 256Mb GC, 17"TFT, 160Gb Sata HDD, DVD-RW + other stuff [/ QUOTE ] I am going to go for a simial spec but a 15" TFT as i do not have alot of room and i am going to get a wireless mouse and key board. Is the 3 year suport package worth its money ? Should i buy a new printer from them or shop around for one ? Thanks for all the advice.
CarMad
Don't bother with the printers, unless its free as I haven't seen one do well in a test against HP / Epson et al yet. I would check out the Dell outlet prices and possibly get a good TFT from Dabs or similar for less. Had a quick look at the Dell outlet and as an example that could be the spec below. There are plenty to choose from. Dimension 5150 Pentium 4 Processor 630 with HT technology (3.00GHz, 800MHz fsb, 2MB cache) 1G Memory 160GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive ATI Radeon X300 SE 128MB HyperMemory Wireless Keyboard and mouse. Dell 15" TFT Monitor All in price of £722 Delivered

cruiser647
Why a 15" TFT? Very restictive on the view. You only get 1024 * 768 on it. You'll be scrolling up and down forever and a day to see most web sites and pics. Get a 17" you won't regret it. They don't take up THAT much extra, depending upon which one you get. Slim bezel and all that..........
Rustynuts
MrMe's selling a 17" tft monitor in the classified section, 18 months old, and wants 70 quid delivered. As you're close enough to go pick it up, you'll probably get it for less.
