F90X
OK, so I've been looking at Audi S3's and then on my way home tonight I saw a '52 330 sport saloon with cloth/alcantara (my preferance as it happens)and a manual 'box (also my preferance) in topaz blue (prefer silver but you can't have everything)with 18" MV's. It looked immaculate with the only blemish being a chip out of the offside front wheel. It's up at £17.5k at a Nissan dealer, I'm not sure of the mileage but I should think well under 40k for that money. I shall call them tomorrow and get the spec but in the meanwhile what do you guys with relevant BMW experience think? Let guestimate 30k miles and a reasonable spec. It has mutifunction 3 spoke wheel and carbon dash, I couldn't see anything else obvious and there is no spoiler on the bootlid. I'm still eeping an open mind as far as the S3 goes but I've wanted a big engined 3 series since the original 323i from the '70's What do I do???? Drive them both I suppose. But I still want your ideas on the value. Steve
gizze
That sounds expensive, mate just sold his 2004 '53 plate 330d sport touring with leather, auto, nav, heated seats, phone, 18" msport II alloys and a few other bits on a 53 plate with less than 30k miles on it for £20k, he had it on his forecourt at £23k for a good 12 weeks before it went. Now I know that is not the spec you want but the tourings seem to fetch a premium over the saloons as do the diesels and autos. The 3 series is a great car, but I would expect a 3 year old 3 litre petrol to be around £15ish now the new one is out.
F90X
Got a bit more spec... It's actually a facelift '02 reg with HK speakers, 23k miles, auto wipers, single cd head unit (no Changer)and he's come down to £16,500 over the phone so I might be able to squeeze him for a bit more. Looking at Autotrader £16-16.5 seems about right especially with such a low mileage. I'm in no hurry and as i've said I'm supposed to be looking at S3's so perhaps I'll wait. Any recent model 3 series owners have a view?
Phil330
The HK Hi Fi is brilliant, i had an 02 reg 325i sport, and i reckon its better than my convertible's. Its a great car, with the added bonus of that six cylinder roar! I went to an Aston Martin garage on Saturday, and the 4 people out the front looking at the new AMV8 Vantage all looked round as i pulled out, echoed all around the forecourt! I was smiling all the way home! Those MV Alloys are time consuming to clean, but are well worth the time! Check out the pic of mine!
Mikedavbora
[ QUOTE ] he's come down to £16,500 over the phone so I might be able to squeeze him for a bit more. [/ QUOTE ] Thats more like it, £16k would be my target for a three year old 330 Saloon. Though the mileage and spec is evry attractive! The cloth / alcantara is lovely, I chose it over leather myself.
Bungle
I dont mean to hi-jack this thread but I have a very similar dilemma. I was planning to get a new golf Gti or R32, but stumbled across a very clean Silver BMW 330i Touring, Manual, 2002, (02 plate) with Sat Nav/Tv, Black Leather, Xenons, Harman Kardon Upgrade, 6 CD, privacy glass etc, and i know I could get it for 14k. Its got 50k on th eclock and full BMW SH. It seems like a good price, but its difficult to value with 5ks worth of options. Please advise if you think it represents good value. gizze
That is a lot of car for the money, and a great car too, but it will be 4 years old in March so I would think that the price is about right. As I said above, mate just sold his 2004 '53 plate 330d sport touring (chipped to 245bhp) with leather, auto, nav, heated seats, phone, 18" msport II alloys and a few other bits on a 53 plate with less than 30k miles on it for £20k, he had it on his forecourt at £23k for a good 12 weeks before it went. Make of that what you will, I don't know if that means a car that is 2 years older, petrol and another 20k miles on it is good value at £14k or not? One thing to remember is with the E91 now about the E46 will start to drop like a stone in value, although it may already have? When the E46 had been out a for about 12 months the E36 started to plummet like mad. My mate bought a e36 318 coupe ex demo at the end of its life for around £22k and he got £8k for it after 2 1/2 years and only 20 miles on it, he just could not sell it. F90X
With my limited experience of trawling through Autotrader i would say that was reasonably good dealer money for that spec and mileage. There happens to be a 330i 51reg touring SE with 40k at £13999 (dealer) and a 330d sport saloon for the same money but neither are quite as heavily specced as yours. Bit's are going to need doing at the 50-60k mark I'd have thought.exhaust, discs, etc.
Bradmax57
I swapped from a S3 to a 330ci Sports and have never really looked back just as quick well almost, smoother and lot nicer drive, sure the S3 is a bit more of a pit bull, but maybe thats me getting old
