petsy
Okay, I posted this in the car electronics forum yesterday and only had one reply so I thought with this forum being populated with GTi owners only, I could get a definite response. I need to temporarily disconnect the battery supply on a MkV golf gti. Am I likely to encounter any problems e.g. fault lights and sensor lights on reconnection and if so are there any precautions I should take? Snoopy
Airbag light may latch on too not sure of what version of control units used on the mk5 so cannot say for sure but it also depends on how long you with have the battery off. R32North
What's its say in the Manual. Had the battery off on the .:R a few times with no issues. Auto up windows take a few mins before they 'wake' up again, but thats it!
RedRobin
Exactly as Snoopy says: I had the system indicate that the Airbag was not functional. Dealer sorted it with his diagnostic box literally in one minute. Good idea to disconnect battery if working on anything electrical I reckon....My soundman did while installing SatNav & Audio.
