Stress

Stress is good .... to a degree. If you feel it's crossing the line then don't sit there and suffer; go and do something about it.

Is the project short term or for the foreseeable future?

Only you know all the details but don't get caught up in the vicious circle, start sorting it now or at least get your mind straight with certain milestones etc.

Have you considered bling therapy? wink.gif

I got promoted a few weeks ago and another new project with my old boss and his colleagues at another site. Now I'm enjoying it much less.... smashfreakB.gif

A few weeks is not really enough time to make up your mind. Persevere for a couple of months and then reassess. If you are still unhappy then start thinking about options.

However in the meantime I would suggest you get your CV up to date and start looking at the jobs on offer in your area of work so you are ready to move quickly if you decide to go.

One/Two of my friends have just told me that i need to see a doctor about my depression problem!

[/ QUOTE ]

Neo,

In that case mate do it and do it urgently. If your friends think you should see someone then maybe you do - after all they know you well and are clearly worried enough to have the courage to suggest you get help.

Depression is an illness and needs to be treated or it can get worse. In very extreme cases people can end up taking their own lives. This happened very recently with a member of another car forum of which I am a member - I had met him several times, the last time only a fortnight before his death and there was no sign that he was anything but happy and content - he had however had a long history of depression. I wouldn't dream of suggesting that your situation is in any way comparable to his, his is an extreme case. But for your own sake and the sake of those who care about you please do what your friends suggest. If the doc says you aren't depressed then that's excellent news - job's a good'un - and everyone's mind is at rest. Sorry to have hijacked the post a bit but this is important to me. PM if you need to.

Jamie

UBM...I'm having pretty much the same right now.

Not enjoying my work anything like I used to. Too much the bringer of bad news to people these days, and whilst I might be a twat of the highest order (in their books I'm sure) I don't actually like doing it.

I wouldn't say I feel stressed but I do feel rather 'demotivated'. It's not money orientated, not through by CEO, nothing like that - I just seem to be finding that I don't get the job satisfaction or inspiration that I used to.

I think the amount of travelling I'm doing both now and for the foreseeable future is a huge factor though. The traffic on todays roads certainly has a habit of pissing me off if I'm not on nice country lanes on a jaunt.

UBM - you know my thoughts on this; family, especially children have to come first.

Do you whatever you need to do to get a relatively settled professional life in preparation for being a Dad 169144-ok.gif

Remember, money and promotions cannot always compensate for a happy life both at home and at work and there will be other chances in the future.

At 35, I have an aura of smugness brought on by finding the right job, with the right balance between work and home grin.gif

Stress is not a good thing but sometimes we put it on ourselves more than other people are puting it on us. I know its easy to say this but sometimes you need to thing about the worst case scenario.. and its it so bad.

I am in a stressful situation at the moment but not because of over work. The opporsite, I'm quite and its killing me. I hate doing nothing but I have to live with it and try and concentrate on things away from work to feel fulfilled. confused.gif
