paffat
Hi, My troubled passat 2000 1.8t sport has an air con problem, after re-gassing and changing the cabin filter I was advised to change the 4 pin sender unit in the condensor. This has all been done and re-gassed again but no luck. I can power up the compressor manualy but no joy therwise. Is there a common fault with this model any help would be great. Thanks. DickPassat
Hi, Had to sort my Saab Climate this summer and trawled round several "aircon specialists" in our big town. Several had a guess and I wasted a bit of money and lots of time before finding a good Saab indy with the right diagnostics and willing to give a g'tee that his work would fix it. Mine was the relay on the compressor and a new pump was the best way. Not cheap. Yurs sounds like a control issue which might be easier. I'd get it diagnosed by someone with the right VW gear. Then get that commitment from them that their diagnosis is correct and will fix the problem if you give them the job. Otherwise you can end up paying a fortune for someone to swap parts. 9969
Is the heater/blower motor working ? i.e. can you use the + & - buttons on the climate control ? Mine packed up and I had the motor reconditioned by an Auto Electrician (£40) - put the motor back in myself and everything was back to normal
paffat
Yes the blower works fine. You can switch all on inside car but compressor does not engage. Although the compressor will run if fired up manually.
9969
Sorry I can't be of any more help, but it sounds to me that you might have to consult with another expert ! (I was hoping that you had the same problem that I had) Let's hope you sort it out soon and it's cheap !
jojo
The compressor won't operate or engage if the outside airtemp is less than 5 degrees C, it's been a few cold days lately, hope that helps.
