Hey Guys,

Recently Joined up after ordering an M3 Cab.

The Car is Due here in around 2 hours.

Cant Wait !

Will Post pics sometime today -

She's Imola Red / SMG / with the 19" Wheels and Red Nappa Leather.

Though I would go for a conservative look with the colour Choice !!

Is there anything I should be aware of when first driving the SMG ?

Thanks

Pete

Welcome to TSN Pete!

Wow Imola/Imola is indeed a brave choice - but quite stunning to look at when new.

As Chrispy says take it easy in the first instance and you'll soon get to grips with it. Experiment with the Drivelogic and find the gearchange speed that suits your driving style best and, perhaps more importantly than anything, keep within the running in limits as much as you can.

That 1,200 mile mark is very important - and make sure you take the car in on time.

One last thing I'd say is inspect the paintwork very carefully. Check the car thoroughly and don't be hestitant about rejecting it if you're not 100% happy.

I'd be interested to know what you think of the car in a few months time too.

Pics required!

Hey Mose ,

Just wanted to state that the car is a 2002 SMG 2 Model.

Its done 33,000 Miles Imola Red

See link here Guys,

Its such a better handling car than the Maserati 3200 by a long shot.

I now do not feel knackered after a long journey (e.g 200 Miles plus)

The Weight Distribution seems perfect (IMO)

Hope the Pics look ok ?

Uploading better images over the weekend.

P.S teh Red and Red interior work well for me !

Perhaps I have a 'Red' Personality !

Thanks Guys

Pete

Nice one Pete - stunning colour IMO - I have an Imola Red Coupe, but with black leather. Once you clean it up it looks ace.

Anyway, one thing I noticed in your pics is that the car is wearing Continental Tyres - as many have discussed here before, and from personal experience - I would change them as soon as you can - they are dung.gif

I changed to Michellin PS2's and what a difference laugh.gif

But congrats 169144-ok.gif

Just really following on from the tyre comments and not meaning to go 'off topic' NONO3.GIF - my contract hire M3 has the 'M3' Conti Sports but due to a puncture yesterday and the fact that 'Kwik Fit' cant get hold of the tyre it may be worth my while sticking some PS2s on the rear (as i have to pay anyway..) - would you stick to current size or go a bit wider?

cheers.

[ QUOTE ]

I stuck to the current sizes Mark. The reason I did that was because of the impact of the different sizes on the speedometer.

Surely, the intention was to go slightly wider, but adjusting the profile, and thus the rolling radius / speedo reading would not be affected?

I thought that the preffered larger combination for the M3 was:

245/35 R19 ZR

275/30 R19 ZR

Having said that, when I changed 2 rear tyres recently I went for the standard sizes again.

Sorry, yes, you're right. The profile change is what makes the difference, but I was presuming he'd go above the sizes you've mentioned because most seem to if they're intent on wider tyres.

I was given the impression that if you wanted to make any significant difference in terms of grip that you'd need to go above those sizes too - hence not many people bothering.
