Dan32
Got new SE bluetooth kit. Couldn't find decent place to mount the control stick so fabricated this part. Been asked how so did a sketch and here are some basic instructions: 1 & 2: Cut ribs for phone platform. 3: Cut phone platform and glue to ribs. 4: Cut rib for controller platform. 5: Cut platform and end plate for controller and glue to rib. 6: Glue controller platform to phone platform and rib. 7: Remove the assembly and fit ribs to front and rear. Apply body filler to joint between phone platform and controller end plate, sand and spray with Halfords satin black. Mine sits on some anti-slip matting. The components were first made from cardboard templates and then transferred to 5mm acrylic and then glued with superglue.

Mook
Danno, you have got an uncanny knack for doing things bloody well Think I need to get rid of my Nokia in favour of a Sony just to get you to make one of those for me...
james1978
What bluetooth kit is that,And is it compatable with all phones? Great work by the way. Thanks..
davidb67
Excellent Dan, top quality. Looks like VW made that recess JUST for the K750!! Got the same HCB-700 myself. Do you find the top (black) part of the controller is a bit loose/wobbly? David
Sponge
Very impressive. You should patent it.
Dan32
Davidb67 - No I don't find the top bit of the controller wobbly. Do you mean as a consequence of how I've mounted it or the actual unit itself? Its actually sitting on the centre console AND the part I made and it actually seems to lock the whole thing together. Just wish it wasn't so fiddly to make them otherwise I think I could have sold a couple on here!!
davidb67
Dan, no not your mounting part, the controller part itself - top section ABOVE the volume ring. Mine is not firm, but a bit floppy - ooh madamme!
Dan32
Its not overly firm (this is getting out of control!!). Doesn't need much effort though to access the functions, just a light push and it connects. One problem I am having with it is every now and then, the screen displays 'No Network' but you can make a phone call so there is obviously network. Only happens couple of times and then its fine again.
davidb67
Dan, hmmm, think my controller unit is not as "solid" as it ought to be. It all works fine, but that top section is quite wobbly - best way to describe it the motion a jelly would make on a plate after removing from the bowl!!! Yes, thread losing all sanity! Markallain
Hi Got the same kit fitted today but have just one problem. I had bought the advanced music mute HCE-16 to get the sound through the stereo speakers. But since I have Sat Nav was told this was not compatable. Anyone else got the OEM Sat Nav in a MK4 Golf who knows how to get the sound through the stereo speakers?
Paul
i have the cd based sat nav plus (one with screen and bose) with a SE HCB-30 kit running on it. The VW units are very similar, just decals and colour, and a few menu differences. with no adapters... I retained the SE speaker, took it apart and soldered on two leads to speaker and re assembeled. fitted the mute lead, after adding the pin to the harness from an old autoleads adapter.. and the two new leads from the SE speaker had their ends soldered, and pushed through the empty holes in the plug where the pins would be( the pins are too smalll and i had not got any to fit) to make contact with the Tel in +/- connections. cabled tied this in place and all works lovely. Sat nav mutes, "phone" comes up on sat nav and DIS Conversation is relayed through car speakers, and volume is tweakable on the sat nav ( a seperate telehone volume) and on the HCB-30 controller. and it all reverts back when the call has ended. so in summary it literally was 3 wires to the sat nav to get it to work. (ignoring power connections sourced elsewhere) mute Tel Speaker +/- in.
mb
Paul is quite correct - I muted first my delta then my nav unit. If they have aready wired the speaker for the phone up it is simply a matter of miring the mute lead from the car kit (that will be the one that is bundled up and unused at the moment...) into the plug on teh back of teh nav unit. If you pull the nav unit it is clearly pinned out on the sticker, you can get the little pins from VW or they may be included with the car kit - you will need to pull out the little purple plastic pin in order to insert the mute pin into the plug - then just wire the other end up to teh mute lead - takes 5 minutes. Markallain
The Stereo mutes fine so think this is OK but sound only comes from supplied speaker. They might be reluctant to take the speaker apart so is there a lead which can be connected so the car speakers are used for calls?
Paul
not on my SE kit from my memory. I just took speaker apart (easy) soldered two more wires onto the existing soldered joints (easy) and passed the wires through the whole left in the case where the fixing bracket would have mounted (easy) so it could be totally reverted to SE standard without any sign of tampering or hacking about.
