jason_s
posted this here just incase i dont get any answers form the cleaning forum. had supaguard applied by dealer on my new car. am wondering if theve done it properly 1, does supaguard mean you dont have to wax the car for 3 yrs? 2, went to france recently and when i got back i had loads of flies stuck to bonnet. had real trouble getting them off and they seemed to leave marks on paintwork. does this mean the car hasnt been supaguarded properly? if so how should i complain or how can i test to see if theve applied it at all. also i applied merr after this and the next time i cleaned the flies and dirt off it came off no problem. what should i do? if i do need to wax it what is the best (but not stupidly expensive) wax to buy...fiancee wants to get me some for x mas. SL26UK
My car been Supaguard. I still wax it using Meguiars NXT tech wax.
cleanimage
Flies dry on even with a paint sealant. You can try the damp towel method. Soak a towel warm soapy water and lay it over the front of your car, it will help soak them off. You should have been supplied with Paintseal Cream if you had the package. This should be used to remove bird mess, tree sap and squashed flies. If you are going to wax over the top, it will nullify the warrantee, but it will be okay, and NXT is superb for the job. Tunner
Paint treatments in my opinion are a waste of money and the dealers make huge comission selling it! My sis in law works at a VW dealership, ome chat with her would make any doubting, have a re-think. Quite often, if time was too tight prior to a customer collecting a new car, they would skip the treatment and yet magically still treat the car. Very few complain as they have no real idea 12 months on if the treatment is working or not? If you want to still waste your money, ask to watch the franchised operator treat your car. No substitute for a weekly wash and a bi-monthly waxing!

Snoopy
I was talking to a bloke at my local skoda dealer today while waiting to collect a relative that works there and he was telling me in confidence how there local Audi dealership and themselfs were having paint problems on there new cars with bird dropping etching into the paint and lifting it in lumps on some colours and mager discolouring on others. He did say the paint sealer treatments they offer from new, he did not say the make of it though, non of the treated cars have had problems so far. I think the problem is so serious, that I doubt a paint sealant would help for long
rozzerfodder
Jay, With regard to fly splats, I used to user auto-glym motorcycle cleaner on my gsxr1000 and it literally dissolved em making it a doddle to clean em off and it did not affect the paint in any way. Them flies were well and truly splattered as well as the speedo used to read three figures a lot more than it read two.

silentandy
Isn't doing those kind of speeds in France even more risky than over here? Don't the French police shoot speeders on the spot or something like that.
