Crispin
Due to pick up my Steel Grey MKV 3dr DSG in a couple of weeks and thought i'd say hello....Couple of questions as well. Have any of you used any of the "connects2" components to connect your MP3 players to the stereo? (could someone post the make/model number of the standard stereo if poss as well please) Also should I wait a few miles before I make the obligatory visit to revo for the chip and milltek - or book it in and do it straight away? Cheers, C
lagrian
wait, let your engine settle in first, I would give it at least 5000 miles personally, plus it will revitalise your GTi experience down the line when you get it done
CarMad
Yeah get you car and enjoy it as it is for a bit and run it in properly at least put a few thousand miles on it first before you go and play about with it. The car gets much stronger anyway over the first 5/6k miles IMO. Oh and welcome to TSN Have a look around the place and the other forums, cleaning - car hifi - LOJ etc. etc.
mixit
Hi Crispin and welcome. Hope you enjoy your new GTi as much as we all do. As for the MP3 question. Crispin
Thanks for the replies guys. One more question.... I'm coming into the Golf from an EVO VII, so tyre choice is a tad important to me, I plan to put Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tyres on it in 225/45/17, but you can get these in 235/45/17 as well - do you think i'll have any bother putting these on the standard 17" rim? Have any of you done so? Thanks C
Snoopy
Remember with the sizes you quoted your gearing and speedo will be out using a bigger tyre as your rolling circumference will be different
Bungle
The 18's (225/40/18) have a slightly larger diameter than the 17's. 235/45/17 would be fractionally larger than the 18's. I dont think you would have an issue with rubbing, and you would have a bit of extra protection for the alloys. I think you would probably be ok. Not sure how to post a link, but try this site, its very useful for comparisons. http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
