s4dreamer
Having replaced the tax disk twice now, my aluminium tax disk holder no longer sticks properly to the windscreen. I seem to remember that when I got it, the note in the package said you could order them, but I've lost the note and record of the company I bought it from. What have the rest of you done ? R32Ash
Trev, I saw someone selling replacement sticky pads on Ebay. I think they were in sheets of 30 though. If I recall correctly they were £3 (ish) for the sheet.

R32North
Aye, plus my local A1 Autostores does replacement packs of 6 for about 99p. I have to ask, is you Ali Tax Disk holder not one with the wee allen grub screews where the back screws off so the bit stuck to the window nevers needs to be taken off the glass? Also, you could simply apply some double side tape to the sides of the wee rubber sticky bits - if you have some double sided tape!
s4dreamer
Yep, it's one of those with the grub screws, but when I first stuck it on, I put it too low, so after much faffing with the allen key, I ended up taking it off the screen because I couldn't get the screws back in. D'oh! I guess I could have used some double sided tape, but the sticky pads are quite thick, which helps deal (partially) with the curve of the windscreen. Now I've bought a pack of 30, I don't have to worry about how many times I remove it and stick it back on

s4dreamer
Nope, like a lot of others, I bought it off Ebay for around £15. It's a great looking holder, although the clear plastic cover has warped in the heat of the summer sun.
RedRobin
I have a Richbrook ali licence holder but simply use a double sided sticky pad to position it on top of the dashboard....Problem solved
Calm Chris
Someone here, posted that any fish tank shop sells the double sided sticky feet, They are used to hold the filters / stat / pump for fish tanks. I'm the same as Robin, blue tac and mounted on the dash. Reason? I ruined the originals, due to mounted too low on screen, seems to be a common error! RedRobin
Hi chri5, And I thought I was the only one who mounted theirs on the dash! Watch out with the Blue Tac though cos it can stain. My reason was having a rebellious nature and a hatred of all authority telling me where I should stick my compulsory licence. In previous cars I have always stuck the licence centrally behind the rear view mirror but the Mk5 Golf has rain sensors etc plus I have a (very tasteful) graded sky blue windscreen strip. Skidmark
Mounted mine at the top of screen, on passenger side, so no probs getting the screws out. Has been re-fitted after screen change using the re-fit kit from Richbrook no probs.
Dan32
Be careful where you mount disc. Feds don't like it anywhere but in the bottom left corner of the screen so they can do roadside checks easily. Could end up getting slapped wrist or worse, a fine for not displaying it properly! RedRobin
....That's been my expectation but my car has been seen by plenty of 'Feds' and one has even driven it without any comment about it!! However, sooner or later I expect one will mention it and I'll be ready for it. Mine is bottom left corner. I had my tax disc centred behind rear view mirror on my BMW for how many years? - Over 10! Good advice though
