AGK512
Chrispy I've just got back from TD the new R and am specing it for order tomorrow. I'm curious about the rear window tints ? have you seen with/without ? Did you choose em for 'security' or looks ?? Cheers
Mook
If someone wants to get into your car they will - I've always been of the impression that they're for looks. Mrs Mook's Passat Estate has full rear tints and it looks the muts, esp. as the car is black. If you want to think about tints with security, you would do well to talk to Pentagon. Can't find the thread right now...
AGK512
Cheers Mook My mutt is going to be reflex silver 5dr So might look a bit odd side on with dark back and light front ? so maybe i'll not tick the box. I sometimes carry valuables for work with seats down so anything to stop someone seeing I've got a boot fulll whilst at frequent visit to mway services Cheers

markh1970
So just got back from Vindis VW in Cambridge, watched as they put my order on the system. Metallic black R 5dr DSG Recaro full leather Winter Pack Armrest 6 Disc autochanger Sunroof He will call later with delivery date. However 5 mins ago to ring to say they have recieved a box of the brochures, so will get one of them tomorrow. Cannot wait. Also drove a GTI with DSG, love that gearbox. He laughed when I said I though the engine was a little 'buzzy'
nicks3
Don't see how the dealer can give you a delivery time until the car has 'gone live' on the VW system. Until then any date would be a 'stab in the dark'.

sitas3
got my test drive booked at VW in Guildford for today - they say however that should I wish to order, car won't be delivered until October 2006! Good luck to those who decide to wait that long!
jimbor32
Just taken a phone call from the dealer - they want me to visit the showroom to select my options and was indormed the following 'wont take long there are only five options'! Will be interesting - also was told they wont be getting a demonstrator, even tho last week i was told they are getting one in two weeks.

jimbor32
Placed my order yesterday. Dealer seems fairly confident of an early March delivery. (i wont hold my breath to that) After much deliberation went for the following: 3dr Manual Deep blue pearl Recaro Seats (Cloth) Winter Pack 2 Lux Pack Arm Rest (which i am trying to persuade em to get an ipod prep pack installed, seems only the germans are getting this for just now tho) Highline Computer Not sure if anyone has noticed or discussed this already - but the recaro seats lose the side airbags and the seat belt warning light - not any issue for me, but thought i would point this out because the dealers literature does not mention it but the R32 website mentions it (on the VW site)
ashleywater
Picking up 3 Door shadow blue / DSG / Leather etc end of the week, vw sales guy who attended Milton Keynes dealer track day, raised a few interesting things about the car.Apparently the ecu data accumulates everytimes you put the key in the ignition, which means that when they plug into computer they can tell exactly what you have been doing to your vehicle!!! This is apparently only available on the r32 as it is the latest generation ecu.

I realise that there are no re-maps currently available for the Mk5 R32.
ashleywater
basically if I understood the vw guy correctly, the ecu collects real time driving data every time you use the car,i.e: put the key in the ignition, so every time you start the car, the ecu resets itself and has the capability to log and record your driving habits, Good, or in the majority of cases bad! well you could'nt really drive a Mk4 at anything other than warp speed, too much fun, so hopefully the Mk5 will be in the same league!!!!
