tintsy Posted November 17, 2005 Report Share Posted November 17, 2005 Hi Im going to change the timing belt on my 20v 1.8 passat non turbo, Has anyone done it and if so is there anything I need to watch out for. also I have been quoted prices from £80 to £150 for a total camb belt kit, any info would be greatfull. aaabbb Posted November 18, 2005 Report Share Posted November 18, 2005 Make sure you do the belt becasue Ive just took the head off the same car and engine as yours because the teeth on the belt had come of and it now requires a complete engine. Bent all the valves and guides and the pistons are knackered because the valves hit the pistons. It was only 5 years old and only done 70K.
