bulldoze
I noticed a recent post where someone took there car in for a service after 1500km run in period. did anyone else do this? i was under the impression that service schedule is determined by the computer! Have i missed a service? cant find my service book to check (another problem!)

RedRobin
It used to be a good idea to change the engine oil after the first 1,000 miles but I understand that modern engines don't need this.
petsy
The oil itself may be fine but I am still a little concerned about the fine fragments of metal which will inevitably contaminate the oil during the first thousand or so miles as bedding in occurs. phantom75
you have to take it at 1500 kms, they will change the oil which is dirty and contains iron fragmants due to the new engine, also will tighten and check up on suspension and if anything needs to be regulated. this service is supposed to be free, as i did it for free. zoomx3
fine fragments should get trapped by the oil filter. change the oil filter?

pingpongpo
Unless the Gti is different to any other engined Golf I'd say its a matter of personal paranoia if you want it serviced after 1000 odd miles. I assume if you are on timed service schedule its 10K if its variable wait for the computer to tell you.
