neo283
All of the brake lights have failed on my A3. Pretty certain it's the contact switch behind the brake pedal as there is a distinct 'hissing' sound when I press it. Funnily enough, the switch was replaced recently and is only 3 months old. Could the problem be anything else? I changed all the brakes & pads a couple of weekes ago, could I have knackered something when I did that? Can't see how I did! The stereo is starting to play up again too!!! Taking ages to fire up. Grr, just when I need to sell it!!!!!
Paul
fuse and switch would be my first place to check, assuming - all - brake lights are out. brake pedal switch can be tested with vagcom if you have it.
neo283
No Vag-com unfortunately. Thanks though! Will probably change the switch see how it goes!

neo283
Yup, Was the brake light switch behind the brake pedal as suspected. Cost £38 to fix at my local AVW specialist. Part is £12ish and it's 30 mins work with the right tools. Can't complain! Good luck and keep checking your rear view mirror till it's fixed!!!
