simonb
Has anyone got one of these?? These are the device advertised on TSN - so in looking legitimately, you are also earning TSN money. Not that i encourage 'power-clicking' or whatever it's called - i am actually interested in what these things are like??? http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pag...987187556217223
NeilB
I use a TomTom system and the free database from GPS World, works for me.
R32North
Hmmm, could also be interested as I've avoided the other types as like the guy says, they are subscription and GPS based so you might not get the most accurate and up-to-date info. CarMad
You can also get the speach updated so it says Gatso 30 or Specs etc. There is an article on the site to do it its all free. I have it set to bleep on every Gatso and then it tells me the speed for that site, it works very well and has a lot of temp sites the police use on bridges etc. Has saved me from a potential 3 points several times with the temp sites. The best way to get all the POI - points of interest is to download a program called POIedit. It downloads all the updates in a flash including the camera sites and loads of others POIs. s4_sat
i've got a road angel and it's been absolutely faultless. even detects average speed cameras and if the camera has film or not.

s4_sat
i have no idea but it does. there's a camera down the road from my house which always has film in it and it goes nuts when i get near it. there's another one a bit further away which has no film in it and the unit stays quiet. CarMad
Maybe its just not on the database... ??

CarMad
Some of the radar cameras can be detected. When they are trying to judge the speed of the car they use radar technology that can be detected. The thing is this only works if you are following a car that is making it detect. Tomtom and the programmed sites will do me. It even tells me the speed limit of the camera as well now.
mb
The thing to remeber with detectors is they do just that - detect as such they were being attempted to be outlawed by teh government. Radar detectors will be subject to falses etc. Laser detectors will basically just tell you that you have been nicked. GPS uses a database so doesn't actually detect anything - benefit is no falses, will not be outlawed downside is it is only as good as the database and will not detect mobile traps althought these mostly use laser so the point above applies. And none of the above will protect you from VASCAR ! HtH Martin
