AlexM
Got a call today from my dealer to let me know that the boat has arrived and that my nice shinny new GTI is on UK soil. Should be availabale for pick up a week on Tuesday. Hopefully good news coming for a few other people on here who are waiting on delivery.

RedRobin
....And guess whose dealer Leman's is! [His outrageous delay is down to paperwork inefficiency in Germany and not usual apparently]. Another wave of new GTI owners and piccies and hopefully enthusiasm. scotw
Yip, I'm getting mine either this Friday or early the week after (depending on if I go get it or get it delivered up here!) Can't wait!
RedRobin
....Which would you prefer to do? - Go get it? or it to you?
Neimad
The place I ordered mine from wanted £99 to deliver it to me, but personally I'd rather keep the money and have the fun of driving it myself
RedRobin
....Yep, spend it on fuel! I lose track of everyone's stage of waiting - How long is the wait for you now?
AlexM
I hope for the sake of Leman's sanity it was on the boat. If not he's likely to tourch the dealers showroom!!!
scotw
Hmm Im thinking of delivery. The pickup place is in Kent, which means flying down Thursday night to be able to pickup at a decent time. Then its a LONG drive home, plus Im in Edinburgh on Sat for the rugger, then on Sunday Im at Uni in Glasgow, so it'd be quite a bit of messing around. Plus hotel(s), flights, fuel etc means its probably much the same cost either way.

[/ QUOTE ] 101 days to go, so says my countdown timer... March '06 delivery. I'm hoping I'll get an early Christmas present and find out my build date since it's been at "Awaiting build date" since the middle of July when I ordered it. I know, I know, it's a long wait, but it does work out to my advantage in some ways -- firstly I should get an '06 registration, and secondly I should have another year of no-claims to reduce my insurance premium -- makes the difference when the quotes are all coming out at £1000+ currently! RedRobin
Ouch!!! on the insurance! More years = less premium. I got my build date two weeks after order with deposit 5,000 miles ago. Scott, I bet if we had a poll as to whether you should fly 'n drive rather than let them deliver to your door, no-one here would vote you wait by your door! scotw
nice one chaps! Well lets just say I'll keep my TSN mates updated on how it goes no matter which one I choose. I'll not vote as I biased!

[/ QUOTE ] Well, I could pay a lot more -- £1k is the cheapest I can get fully comp insurance. Most places either won't even quote me, or quote in the region of £2-3k. Insurance companies make an absolute killing on young drivers, and granted they are the largest risk group, but we're not all complete idiots. mu71rd
so after the current bunch of arrivals (me, Scott, Leman , DB6Vantage) who is next? I'm sure there'll be a large collective TSN sigh of relief when we can put the Select thread to bed!)
RedRobin
No, not a sigh of relief because for anyone considering using Select or similar this thread is very informative. Leman isn't using Select.
