Adam
I have ripped some files that were on a DVD on to my computer and I want to copy them back to a blank DVD-R I thought my Dell had a CD-R/DVD-R drive but maybe it can only play DVDs - how can I check coz the Dell help system doesn't! when I put in the blank DVD-R it is not getting recognised and I am being told to insert a blank CD so not looking good (no its not pron btw)
mixit
Open Device manager and right click on the CD drive and it will give you a description. Otherwise check the front of the drawer for this logo, etched into the plastic. ......

Thorburn
Its a CDRW/DVD Combo drive e.g. a CD-RW and a DVD-ROM in one unit, it can write CD's but not DVD's. Its not a fault these types of drive are fairly common.
