AGK512
Hi all Just got back from dealer to finalise spec for a MK5 R32 DSG. The dealer is waiting for the VW order system to go live for the DSG model. ie he cant ACTUALLY order it. Manuals are OK I'm not in massive rush for the car and would be happy with a March delivery (BD 8th !) I've no plans to cancel the order (when it can be made) but if it in Jan/Feb they say May/June am I still commited to the order or could I cancel and just loose the £500 deposit ? Just curious Cheers
RedRobin
Re cancellation you'd best read the small print but I don't see why you can't insist on an overriding written agreement signed by your dealer that his failure to notify you in writing of a delay in delivery within a specified timeframe will cancel his right to keep your deposit. He won't like it but.... Alternatively get some free legal advice from your local Citizens Advice Bureau about your standard legal rights in such matters. DSG supplies on both R32 and GTI are supposed to be prioritised but I don't know who to believe any more!! If you want to know more about the DSG technology check out my post DSG - Past & Present in the GTI forum.
R32North
If the dealer wants you business for a £26k+ car, then make him sign that bit of paper giving you the right to cancel if DSG puts an unacceptable delay on your order!
AGK512
Very interesting article RR ..... I'm surprised you manged to type that much on a MAC without it crashing ! Only kidding mate....I'm also a teccie and we have two MAC's in an office of several hundered PC's One an old G3 desktop which is a pile of poo .... constant crashes .... think it might even be one of those friday afternoon specials ! The other a G4 which is a much better in terms of reliability. Will always be a PC guy .... each to their own Getting back to topic ... yea might try for some conditions of order before signing. Got nothing to loose Just hope those DSG order books open soon. Whilst I was in there this moring someone was interested in a DSG toureg(?) .... sorry can't order till april sir !!! Dan32
Mate of mine is getting DSG on his MKV GTTDi but couldn't order the paddles on the steering wheel unless he was prepared to wait over 6 months compared with regular DSG. He was told that the suppiler of the gearboxes had gone under and that was why there would be longer wait. Anyone else hear that?
RedRobin
Nope. I have to say that I find it difficult to believe that the DSG gearbox supplier has gone under. The product is clearly increasing its sales and it wouldn't be too difficult to re-finance the company under such circumstances. Of course I'm speculating but I also find it difficult to believe that VW (actually not just VW but VAG) would have such trading arrangements which were so vulnerable. An extended delay due to DSG supplies would potentially do some very serious damage to both VAG sales and reputation. The new R32 and even the GTI are the VeeDub flagships of the whole Golf range. Markallain
There is an official VW bulletin which all dealers have had regarding DSG. Did not read it myself but dealer read main points to me. Seems that only certain models are affected including the Golf and the issue seems to be only related to cars with paddles. The order delay is indefinate at the moment and the options they are supposed to advise customers of are 1. Switch and choose manual 2. Take a car from UK stock if available 3. Be prepared for an indefinate wait and stick with DSG I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has DSG on their GTI who misses having a manual. I drove a more basic DSG Golf without paddles a while back and can't help but think that for me DSG would not create the same "driving experience"? AGK512
Hi Mark long time no speak So a March delivery for DSG is a bit wishfull then and dealer saying they are getting one car a month are being economical with the facts ? hixster
Paddles are standard with R32 with DSG, I ordered my V with DSG today no probs..
Markallain
Hixster You can probably still order and it will go in the system but the wait for delivery could be a long one.
hixster
I was told i'd have it by April, maybe sooner , the dealer was expecting an extra allocation because they;re a popular/successful dealership and therefore I'd get my car sooner, possibly March. There was no mention of DSG delays.
Markallain
They may have an extra allocation of R32's but there is definately a problem with DSG builds. If you are keen on getting a DSG car in the early part of 2006 I'd consider getting them to look around to see what other dealers have been allocated in the way already built stock. Vman
Got this from my local dealer(Below), as I am still undecided between ordering a GTI or R32. The sales manager told me if I ordered an R32 with DSG I would probably get the car about this time next year!!! Seemed a bit long to me, he said he had been allocated 8 and already sold 5. This letter was dated the 16th November 2005 GOLF R32 ordering open 17 November As an amendment to information update 775/05, we will be releasing Factory ordering for New Golf R32 one day prior to planned to help facilitate ordering of your customer order banks. New Golf R32 ordering will now open on 17th November 2005. At this time only manual derivates will be open for production, further information regarding the releases of DSG models will follow shortly. Given the small build capacity of this vehicle, some cars will be scheduled into the next available production week (KW51), however, many will be scheduled into future weeks. We will not have certainty on production lead-time until these cars are scheduled, any updates will be published in the weekly production update. AGK512
I rang VW Cust Svs earlier and left a message for them to call me about DSG R32 orders on Monday. As a side note I also asked about that on page 20 of the brochure it says Trailer load limits TBA ???
Markallain
I guess the exhausts might need to be moved to attach the tow bar
AGK512
Do you know what looking at the rear end pic in that post of a silver 5dr they might just be far enough apart depending on where the back boxes finish to allow for the box section to sneek out
ERICHOWE
I pick up my R32 DSG on thursday, so they are out there. My local dealer informed me and showed me a memo from VW that stated no DSG cars were being made available until march 06, but that is not true. [/ QUOTE ] Just got back from the dealers and have been talking to them about DSG delays. They confirm there is a European shortage of DSG's and that there may be problems witht suppliers, but.... he did show me the memo regarding the delays which i read. It says that only Passat models , Golf GTI would suffer delays ( i think there were some other models too) , but that the R32 WILL NOT be delayed. Anyway, I don't how that works , but that's what i read ..
