bodger00
Ive just been out cleaning my pride and joy. A group of the local window cleaners/drugy scumbags were walking towards my car(not all window cleaners are scumbags I must say here). As the car was parked half on the pavement , the group thought it would be a good idea to carry five metal ladders past my car.... not good! I got the feeling that you know when you go for a flu jab and you brace yourself..... Anyway the cheek of one of the big buggers.."I bet you would like me to run my ladder down the side of your new car". I boiled! Without thinking about how many of them there was, I said "You would bloody know about it if you did pal!". I really should have thought more about my offensive tactic here I think. Nothing happened...However, I was supprised how protective I was about my GTI. I think for good measure she stays in the garage tonight.
RedRobin
I'm exactly the same!! I don't have to have a red car to see red under such circumstances! Guys like you and I need to be careful though cos some scumbags are out looking for an opportunity to fight. Best to stay cool....If you can! When you have spent around £20-25K on anything, you are bound to be protective. Furthermore such cars as the GTI are not merely lumps of metal. A lady friend of mine insists that everything is "spiritual" and I'm inclined to include my GTI!! I have rented a garage 5 minutes walk away and it defo gives peace of mind. Some kids and pissheads need a good slapping, but....
mu71rd
hmmmm this is a real worry for me. Will be leaving it on the street in london. Pissheads aren't too common around here, but it does happen. I've seen a few broken wing mirrors around. Leman - am I right in thinking you're in london too? What are your parking arrangements? RedRobin
IIRC, mu, you've always said you prefer your car to look quiet and discreet (unlike some flash old gits whose names begin with R) and I expect that a car which just looks like any other VeeDub Golf won't attract the same attention as something more obvious. Some of it will depend on your neighbourhood and even who you are seen to be friendly with in that neighbourhood. Broken wing mirrors for example can happen in any town or village. Only next weekend! younger
Don’t rely on your folding mirrors!
mu71rd
no I've given up folding mirrors in - i think it attracts more attention than where they are normally. (especially those beemer ones that point upwards?!) might even get it mid week. woohoo

RedRobin
....Possibly why we both like the colour Red! I tell you that there are some parts of the world where if you are caught vandalising someone's car or even insulting their car, you are likely to get knifed! Cars can be symbols of a guy's manhood! I once called a guy on a train a poofter in Greek and he pulled a gun on me.
