Its good it got the 5/5 rating but what a rubbish article, there is nothing in it to do with the car. How quick is it, how does it handle, what does it sound like, are the seats really as good as they look, is it better than the Gti and how is it different..... pure JC dribble im afraid... not even worth a read!

interesting that you say 'the usual JC drivel' - i know a few chaps in the car trade and JC can make or break the success of a model - take the Mark 5 gti - just ask any VW salesman about the review JC gave and the impact it had on footfall and orders taken - i bet if JC had given it a bad review the success would be nothing like what it is.

The R32 has been given 5 stars and is due to be reviewed on Top Gear soon....... a lot of people are going to be infleunced by these comments - which is all good news for those of us that have placed their orders.

Was up at the MPH Show in London yesterday and the Mk5 R32 was one of the cars paraded. Apart from saying that it was "everything you could ever need in a car", "more comfortable than an E-Class Mercedes" and "a fantastic all-round car", Clarkson also raved that "and it's only £25,000".

All in all, a pretty good 30 second review, although in the current Top Gear magazine, another journo said that it's a great car (giving it 12/20), but at £5K more than the GTI, "what's the point?".

It's back to the same discussion - depends what you want out of a car...

We all know that JC can make or break a car, but that doesn't mean he's right. The VW salesman who sold me my R said that Clarkson had done wonders for them and the Mk V GTI sales.

JC'son a roll at the moment as he got it right with that particular Golf. I must agree with what others thought about this review. I'd like to hear a JC review that's aimed towards previous owners of the R32...what would it bring to them, above what they have now? I appreciate most readers won't be in this boat and will be looking at the new R32 as something different, but some of us like our current R32s that we'd more than consider the new one.

It would be nice to know what he thought of upgrading, as he liked the first R32. It's difficult to interpret his comments so far when he considers the new one to be value-for-money (I was at the NEC's MPH '05 last week when he said this also), whereas a few of us R owners think it's a bit steep.
