Darkside
T'Afternoon all, At the moment, when I press the brake pedal lightly I get a single knock eminating from the front of the car. It occurs every time the brake is pressed. Its a 2003 Audi A4. Any ideas what this could this be? Also, can squeaky brakes be resolved? Had new pads fitted on the front and they have developed a bus like screech! Bloody car. Suggestions??? Cheers, Adam
UBM
How long ago were the pads fitted. They make a little while to bed in. Perhaps the people who were changing the pads knocked one of the sensors and this is the noise you hear "knocking" when braking? Either that or maybe your brake fluid level needs checking? Could be some air in the system?
Darkside
Cheers UBM, think im going to have to take it back to the garage, but I think a knocked off sensor is a strong possibility. Its probably best to just sell the car and buy a new one

Al_H
Thats a fair point and then your reputation becomes tarred, esp if its ebay. Perhaps best to get the problem sorted before the car is sold on. Any ideas on the next car? i might change mine for a 3.2 Quattro A3 next year, not sure how much longer i can put up with this MPG. UBM
Thats why I went back to a soot chucker!
Al_H
after a V8 i couldnt quite go back to a soot chucker 2.0TDI even though ist an exellent engine. Im thinking A3 3.2 still room for the dog and smaller and sporty.
lottiefox
I borrowed a 3.2 A3 for the day last week - nice car but don't expect good mpg if you give it any form of stick! It fluctuated between 18mpg playing and then 23 being very gentle..... Liked it though, and excellent BOSE in it.
