oldrascal
Firstly, a big hello to other members. I am picking up my 5dr R32 on Monday.......I have to say that I am a tad excited But before I trot off to AMD for a few well chosen mods, I have a couple of questions. 1. With regard to the 6463 software update, was this a date related issue? In other words, was this code standard on later model cars? My own is first registered in January 2004, so can I assume that it has this latest update? 2. If I am going to have an engine remap, is the issue of the 6463 update even relevant? I look forward to many a happy hour on this board. Regards

Mook
Welcome to Tyresmoke Old Rascal The #6463 update should have been applied, esp. if you are buying from a main dealer, but check anyway when you pick it up. If you're going up to AmD, all of their remaps take account of the #6463 update, as they use the base VW software code for their remaps. You going for AmD Stage 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6...? Markallain
As Mook says 6463 is likely to have been done. Will show as a warranty issue at the dealer where it was done so you can check with them. Don't think any cars had it done from new. It was a warranty issue which needed the customer to ask for it. Mine was registered in Feb 04 and didn't have it.
jimmyp
Welcome to the show and i'm glad your excited about getting your R32. [ QUOTE ] But before I trot off to AMD for a few well chosen mods [/ QUOTE ] if i were you i would get to know the car first for a good few weeks so you can become aquainted with your beast before you start to modify. Roy32
When I picked up my R the dealer told me that he had checked to see if it had the 6463 update and that it had. After 1 week of driving i took it to my local dealer and they checked it for me and it didn't have the 6463 update. Ask for a printed read out to be sure. Enjoy your R
oldrascal
Thanks everyone for a great welcome .... what a responsive board, amazing. I feel right at home. Yup, get used to the car for a while is good.....so that gets me to Wednesday, perhaps Anyhow, I really want to get near to 300 bhp with conversion so probably the AMD Stage 3. But the supercharger looks mighty tempting.....decisions, decisions. Can anyone tell me at what stage of tune AMD need to keep the car for more than the day? Mook
[ QUOTE ] Can anyone tell me at what stage of tune AMD need to keep the car for more than the day? [/ QUOTE ] ST3 or ST4 - they need to replace the stock cams with the Schrick ones, so, although it is technically possible to do it in a day, they prefer more time so as to not have to rush it. Get yourself out in a Stage 4 before you decide what to do. It you're going for different stages (as Helfinger and I both did - ST2.5 then ST4) it is worth seeing the difference. If you are going for the supercharger option, you have to either revert back to the stock cams or go for a different profile of Schrick cams, so bear this in mind when you're upgrading. I run a ST4 with a few extra tweaks to get 312 bhp. Based in the South West, but get up to London every week, so PM me if you're anywhere close and I'd be happy to take you out. pomme
Hiya, When i got my car i was told it had the amd st 2. At the beginning i didnt really notice any hesitation but after a month or so i started to notice it. So took a trip to AMD and asked about the 6463 update, and they said it didnt have it. So they chucked it on and then there own st 2 afterwards. And it feels so much better now. So i would when you do trot down to amd make sure to ask about the 6463 update, and i wouldnt really worry about getting it from the dealer if your going to amd. hth andrew
