Roy32
It seems to me that VW have pushed the new R32 early so the new chrome grill will make it distinctive from other MKV Golfs, I have noticed that the Chrome grill is to be used on some of the new Jetta range which is due early next year. Which makes the new R32 not so exclusive in the looks department.
RedRobin
The new silver nose is already on a showroom model parked at my local VW dealer. I don't know whether it's a Jetta or Passat as neither interest me....Phaeton? It's black anyway.
Mook
But don't forget that they always tend to use PR photos of the top end model. Passat SEL comes with bling front as standard, and it's an optional upgrade for the SE and Sport. If you're wanting a Mk5 R32 for exclusive looks, you're barking up the wrong tree... colly
not a Volkswagen owner but the new R32 looks like a tamed down GTi until you look inside and see those ace seats!!(they are an extra though I think)

Have you noticed the jetta has fog lights and xenons, but you cant spec xenons and fog lights when speccing a new car

The strange thing is the GTI's front end seems to be more unique than the R's, which doesn't make sense. The silver grill is definately the new VW corporate image, just like Audi's new grill design. The silver grill is on the new Eos & Jetta and speculated to appear on the 07 model Golfs. That will make the R's front end even less distinctive. Still at least they remembered to paint it all, and it's not an ugly car but you can't help but think VW could have done better.
