Creaking Doors

I just use some bog standard grease, and put a bit on the door rubber attached to the front top part of the doors, and a bit on the rubber seal that it makes contact with on the door frame itself.

You DONT need to grease up the soft rubber seal though that runs around the whole door, its not this thats creaking, trust me!

well I put synthetic grease on the door hinges and the top door rubber and it still does it confused.gif

its sort of like a short 'crack' noise, going over bumps or braking/accelerating. Passenger door has always done it a bit, but now its got cold the drivers door has started.

guess its inside the door which could be hard to pin down

personally i think its the flex in the body which causes the creaking in the door area. now its colder i notice it alot more.

i first thought it was the seals, but after investigating i think different. The R32 suspension doesnt have much give in it and i think it causes the body to flex a little. i aint no expert but i think it makes some sense.

ah ha...i know what you're on about, mine does this too sometimes.

I have found however that when its been in for a service, it seems to go away, and i put this down to them lube-ing the door latch/mech i think. Try putting a small amount of the aforementioned grease on the door latch hook thing on the door frame and see what happens - i've found the noise goes away after doing this.

Im bound to be told now that i shouldn't have been doing this, so id wait for a response from someone else first!
