Tigz
I almost joined up with them, so spent the remining couple of weeks on my AOL service calling the customer service number. Didn't get through once All I heard was a recording saying that there was a problem with payments, that should be resolved...blah blah Desided to go with Demon in the end. saab
[ QUOTE ] "we are having problems it wont be till the 26th" [/ QUOTE ] And so the problems begin even before connection established! I seriously hope you get this sorted with the minimum of trouble but it is exactly stories like this which made me steer well clear of Bulldog. That said BT aren't up and running in my house yet - the modem and disk were apparently arriving today by special delivery - of course no one will be home to sign so unless they left it next door I'll have to go down to the sorting office for it. It's only a crapppy little modem and disk - why the feck does it need to go special delivery - it's probably small enough to go through the letter box. Regulator
Well ... I'm going to go onto Bulldog for 2 reasons ... 1) They have monthly contracts which is good for students and 2) because their rates are low ... Will let u know how I get on! Tomk
yup i did the same thing , also cos they are the only unlimited supplier i could find... i just called them up after they emailed me to say its now up and running - and it wasent only to be hung up on by the superviser name of 'chice' as i asked him for his full name to include in my complaint letter - i mentioned it was a legal requirment if i asked for it and with that he muttered somethign under his breath then hung up ! i just hope my service does get activated today then i never need to speak to there CS again! sidicks
Well, we have been with Bulldog for a couple of weeks now, and so far things are going well (fingers crossed!). They have been able to offer connection speeds of between 2MB and 2.5MB, whereas, BTbroadband could only manage a 1MB line. sidicks
Regulator
Ok, I got my connection today with a line installation and I am happy so far, however, Every so often, maybe hour intervals I keep getting d/connected and the dsl light on the speedtouch modem starts to flash. Anyone else experience this problem or something similar?? I've checked to make sure that the idle time setting before d/connection is never so, it will never cut off. felixthecat1
We just got our 8meg connection through in the office and I have to say their customer service is crap. I phoned up so many times because our connection wasn't working and kept getting the duff advice. I had to work it out for myself with the help of a tech bloke I know. We only get about 6meg at this end anyway, too far from the exchange.

Regulator
Found it! To find the distance you are from your BT exchange you need to have a BT phone active or a very near neighbour with one. From the BT phone dial 17070 then press option 3 (fast test) then press option 1 (fib a bit to say you are authorised) then press option 2 (ring back test). Then put the phone down. A few seconds later you will be called back with information including your distance from the exchange in kilometres.

Riz
I had problems with the initial setup of my line back in Feb, i put it down to the high demand and really feel they couldnt cope with the demand, after the price and packages are pretty good value for money. I eventually got my line connected at 4mbps - speed tests came out around 3mbps, this is due the my apartment being 1.5km away from the exchange. The they upgraded to 8mbps free of charge - speed tests came out about 6-7mbps BUT i was having connection problems and the line kept dropping every now and again... i had bulldog increase the gain on the line, the downside of this was a loss in speed... they reduced it down to 6.2mbps which cured it, connection speeds are now around 4.5-6mbps. Overall i would say once your service is up and running you should pretty much be ok... ive not hand any majour problems since the initial connection phase and bulldog have also given my a months free credit recently for their poor service. Also ive noticed when using Wi-Fi there is also a drop in speed.... it runs about 4mbps on WiFi ADSL Speed test using my WiFi card on 8mb Bulldog Connection Riz
