1Quick_GTI
Had my new GTI DSG remapped with AMD a couple of months ago. The difference in power and especially torque is incredible! They advertise around 25% increase and it certainly feels that and a bit more. Previously off the line I would get wheelspin at the start of 1st gear. However now, the ESP flashes crazy all through 1st gear up to 7,000rpm! In the wet, I even get wheelspin in 4th! Fuel consumption is also improved. Interested to know others who have had it done... RedRobin
AmD are a tuner with a very good reputation....I'm surprised you get so much wheelspin. Surely you don't want such poor traction. What Stage AmD did you have done?
stevie_d
Yeah, I'm surprised that you're getting wheelspin in 4th! What were your final figures?
simon737
Can I ask, if this is done does affect your warranty? just looked at Superchips and they reckon a 41bhp increase. That'd be nice!

1Quick_GTI
The 4th gear wheelspin occured in very wet and very very greasy conditions.... plus the temperature was fairly cold! So all 3 variables plus the fact that with the remap my torque curve betters a EVO IX, breaking traction comes pretty easy. The overall AMD experience was very good. Any problems that my require me to go back to the VW dealer, the AMD technician will reload my stock maps back, making the remap undetectable. Speaking first hand in experiencing stock for 3 months then moving up to the remap, the GTI felt suddenly awaken from it's sleep. Turbo lag was reduced even further with the slight push into the seat turning into a shove. Ohh and did I mention that I am getting 0.5 litre per 100km better fuel consumption! Well worth it if want to consider it.

Simonl
Barry, have you tried a set of xenon replacement bulbs yet.
1Quick_GTI
In Australia there are companies that offer aftermarket xenon's. The cost is 1/4 of original and the results are pretty damn impressive. I don't have a factory xenon to compare it to but move from halogen to xenon was significantly better. It makes the halogen's look like candle sticks especially on a dark back road when you need them most! Does anyone know how many degrees Kelvin the factory xenon's are? My aftermarket ones are 5000K. Speaking to a guy who owns a E46 BMW with xenon's he says that they vary from 4,000K to 12,000K. I would assume the BMW 7 series are close to 12,000K as even on a bright sunny day, the blue/white light can be seen a mile away.
chriswastle
So what were the before and after figures for the AMD remap? I am very keen to get this done just trying to find the dosh!
stevie_d
My current car (PD 130) was remapped by AMD and, although they're expensive, I found them to be awesome! Great service and great products Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but does anyone know if my dealer can put the oem map back on my car? I reckon as it's only a remap, ie not a different chip, then they should be able to "flash" the ecu? Any ideas?
