jonlarge
I've been trying Call Of Duty 2 on xbox Live! and I'm having real problems with the connection. I tend to try about 10pm in the evening and of the four evenings I've tried three have resulted in lag and connection problems (when I'm actually in the game). It takes a few attempts to join a lobby. I managed a deathmatch last night, but then the connection problems returned making the game unplayable. I logged out (of the game, and xbox Live!) and couldn't get back into a lobby thereafter, using any variations in game type, ranked or non-ranked. Nothing else on my wireless network is sharing my connection. Has anyone else suffered from these issues?
Dave
I have COD2, but haven't gone live with it yet. I think there are some issues with lag and stuff. I use PGR3 on-line a lot and have no problems what-so-ever with that.
Snail
COD2 is probably one of the worst online games on the 360. If you go to the xbox forums, theres like a zillion posts moaning about it. There is a patch due shortly apparently.
Chelsea Mick
Try going on ealier in the evening before 8pm. This will give you a chance of actually joining a server that doesn't have any people on over 2,000 miles away As Snail says, COD2 is nutorious for lag but if you get in a good server then is a cracking game
silentandy
I get the same problems, if you go on earlier in the day like Mick says, you can get some good games (or get shot to pieces in my case!)
chipandpin
I play this game a lot on line and find that weekends before 7pm and weekdays before 5 pm are best. There is a way of setting up your own game where you can pick your map, kill limit and time limit and invite your friends to play, but is a bit fiddly. Needs someone with a good connection to host the game, but its well worth it for a 1 hour game with 16 players - 200 kills wins. BTW, my gamertag is chipandpin. feel free to add me - we could chat car stuff whilst shooting up yanks on COD2

bartislartfast
I thought I had a serious problem getting Halo 2 to work with Xbox live through my 360 - H2 multi did work about 2 weeks ago...then nothing would make the multiplayer work... ...The answer? My one month free 'gold' account had run out. Apparently (and I only found this out yesterday) 'silver' status doesn't let you access multiplayer games I now have the impression that everything to do with the X360 seems like a licence for M$ to print money...FFS I've just paid £300 for a console that doesn't play multiplayer games (without spending more do$h) - flippin cheek!!! pingpongpo
You're right, it is a licence to print cash. Online PC gaming was far better organised and any money you put into it actually went towards your own dedicated server, not just using a bit of software to get 15 people to connect to another persons xbox. They're not stupid these people. They know how to make moeny. What surprises me is that someone hasn't come up with a way of bypassing the shitty xbox live bit and just go through your PC connection or something like that
Insurance Jon
they've used pc to play ps2 multiplayer so i reckon it's possible for the
jonlarge
Anyone want to share their experience of the COD2 patch released recently? For me it represented a 10% improvement :-(
Chelsea Mick
The COD2 patch yesterday was mainly to enable the facility to host your own server. This patch was never intended to stop the lag just enable to set up a room for you and your chosen friends. Personally I have been waiting for this patch for over 2 months and it has improved the game by 100% IMHO. We can now have a lag free game with 8 people that you all know and actually enjoy the game rather than have to try and find a server that is in this country to prevent lag. No more having to glitch to get your own hosted game
