turbodan
Ive got a 1999 Audi A3 and just wondered how easy it is to change the gear knob? Did it on my MR2 easily enough but is the Audi A3's molded on & would i have to hack it off?! I really dont have a clue! Also would i be able to fit a new chrome surround easily? Cheers! - Dan

Wallachie
Sorry mate, I can't help you I'm afraid. Personally speaking though, I wouldn't change the gear knob anyway.
PocketRocket
I did it once (but then went back to the original, I think its the best one) You first have to unpin the leather cover frame, then you will see a plastic piece holded by a metal round clamp (you will need to cut it and then use another one). Finally just pull up the knob head and replace. I mean this by "leather cover frame"
neo283
I looked into this. Apparently the only one that will fit well is a particular MOMO knob. Think it's about £60, but I forget the model name.
turbodan
Thats great thanks. The Gear knob is a bit naff on the pre facelift 1999 a3's so just wanted something different. Cheers - Dan
