Multifunction Computer Display

Quick introduction - I'm from the UK and am currently on my 3rd VW (1 x Bora, 1 x 2000 Passat, 1 x 2002 Passat Estate) and about to order my third, a new 2.0TDI Sport.

It might seem like a strange question, but here goes... There are two types of computer displays/MFDs in the Instrument panel, one is a more basic display with a split screen and the other is a full screen which (to my eyes) looks a lot smarter. Is the full screen version the 'Highline Computer'?

The Sport I had for a couple of days had the better MFD display, but some I've seen don't have it. The model I borrowed had a couple of extras such as MF Wheel, Parking Sensors. Would this be the reason why?

Would ordering the MF wheel give me the better MFD?

Thanks in advance for you help!

I was wondering this too. If nobody get's back to you, I'll be able to let you know, cos I'm taking delivery of the exact same car on Tuesday hopefully.

One thing I can say though is that the dealer, when I was test driving the Sport said that the sport came, in addition to the S, with 'the dual climatronic, ambient lighting, and a better computer.' However... if you look on the vw co uk website, it says the highline computer is only on the 3.6 sport. In which case there may be three MFD's. The basic one you get with the S, the next one up, then the Highline.

Thanks for the reply. You might be right about the 3 levels of MFD, but it's a little strange.

Up until a couple of days ago all the Sport models I'd seen have had the better screen (including one of the new ones without the chrome window surrounds). I assumed that it was because of the (standard) convenience pack and the need to be able to change settings such as the coming/leaving home function etc. However, when I went to look at the Estate, the Sport model in the showroom had the basic display.

Confused? I am!
