BenjaminTDI
Does anyone have any info on whether it possible to retrofit DIS to a B7? I would very much like DIS, and if it's not to expensive/complicated I would be up for having a go to fit it, and the tyre pressure monitors. Would love to hear any opinions/information any of you have.

gizze
The cars main wiring harness needs replacing, 3 day job and quite a biy of money.
Mitchet
I thought that if you had the full height LED display in your dash (which all multitronics do, DIS or no DIS), then it's a case of enabling it with vag-com? I've just got my vag-com cable today, so I'm looking into enabling dis at the moment. I'll come back with my findings!

Surely it can't be that simple, and as chav said you'd need a new stalk.
Mitchet
Ah yes.. new stalk, it arrived a couple of days ago! IIRC reading a post about enabling DIS and the only fault was the screenwash (whale spunk) warning appearing?! The fix was to ground a wire... can't remember which one. Mitchet
If I manage to get it all working I'll write it up and post it on the www.audiretrofit.co.uk website (Still early days, but were hoping to keep adding to it) The vag-com cable was from ebay seller 'ktc-diagnose'. It came from Germany and was 150 Euros (about £102), which is actually quite cheap. Not being able to understand the German language, a mate emailed him asking if the cable would work with the ross-tech software. He said it wouldn't, but he could supply the ross-tech cable (USB-CAN) for the same price. So... about £110 all in, the cable took about 3 days to get here and comes with a CD full of software and instructions (in German of course!) Durrsaku
Personally i think you should forget the idea Ben. I will be a nightmare and if you haven't done it before.
J_C
I looked into it when I first got my car as it doesn't have full DIS, and the unanimous advice from those in the know was 'don't bother' - a nightmare to do properly and serious £££. the911sc
It was an easy job on my old Boxster since all the elements were there except for the stalk which was abou 200 quid!... I wouldnt bother retrofitting personally since the range meter is probably the most useful part of it anyway, and that is there standard.
harddrive
i have been doing some reading into this and according to a lot of sites it is just a case of enabling the second layer of functions on the display via VAG-COM. You then just need to fit the correct stalk (ebay special) and correct any errors such as no washer bottle sensor being fitted. Like m1chet said, we hope to fit this to his car in the near future and put the install guide on the audiretrofit website.
Durrsaku
I would be very surprised if that was the case! But i am open to the idea of being corrected. You need to make sure that the harness is there to begin with and the sensors, then is the display(instrument panel which is different to the one you have) then the stalk and the last thing is enabling it via the vag-com. Good luck.
Sparky
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that it's mainly software changes. Surely it's cheaper to build the cars the same, after all, it's only a wiring loom right? Stick the cables in place during build and then either enable or disable the software as it's loaded into the car.
harddrive
I found this on the tinternet: If you can code the 2nd/3rd digit in #17, channel 19 to 1 then you should get DIS functionality and only need to add the wiper stalk. STG 17 Channel 19 x?xxx: Bordcomputer 0 - only level 2 1 - level 1 and 2 xx?xx: Driver Information System 0 - DIS (9Q2 or 9Q4) 1 - no DIS(9Q3)
Sparky
Interesting. Now all we need is a VAG COM to test it...

harddrive
It's not too difficult but you do have to remove the steering wheel At the same time we also hope to retrofit cruise to the car.
