BlackDiamond
Hi, ive just been reading through the board and noticed you are buyng a GTI from motordepot.co.uk. I also have a car ordered through these, a diamond black 3 door with 18's, leather, CD and cruise for £20k. I am waiting until March 1st for mine on an 06 plate but it will be at the dealers around the same time as yours. I only live a mile or so from these people and i've been really impressed with the service so far. The cars come from Holland so i am wondering if they also have a highline computer as standard. I've looked on the Dutch VW site and they list something called a 'Boordcomputer plus' as standard on the GTI. I'm hoping this is the case, i know the cruise control is standard on these cars from Holland. Have you asked them about the highline computer at all? They don't seem to know about this option when ive asked them. I havent seen a GTI which has been supplied by them yet, they are getting a batch of them in on the week commencing 6th Feb apparently
petsy
highline computer is an additional extra option unless you go for the sat nav.
BlackDiamond
I know it is in the UK but these cars are imported from Holland where the standard spec is different, cruise control for example is standard so i'm wondering if a highline computer is standard too? jonathansargent
Thanks for the information Black Diamond - I haven't asked about the highline computer - just assumed as they said nothing that it wasn't supplied. I will hunt around the Dutch VW site. Personally I am not that worried about the highline. I think your information on the arrival of the GTis is accurate - I was told they are arriving at MotorDepot 7th Feb for customers on the saturday 11th - I'm driving up in my Celica to trade. BTW - they gave me a very good price on the Toyota. The GTi then goes down to Dover and to France for its first week of life! I would be grateful if anyone else could throw light on the Dutch standard computer fitting...
BlackDiamond
Hi Sussex, no i'm not too bothered either but it would be nice to get something for nothing. They are giving me a good price for my Golf TDI 130 import on an 02 plate too, £7,500 on March 1st which i'm happy with considering VW offered me £5,800 for it against a new GTI! They tell me the cars are arriving in the week commencing 6th Feb and they are giving me a ring so i can go and have a look as soon as they arrive. Can't wait
jonathansargent
Hi - I'm with you - something for nothiong is great - I was delighted to get a metallic at no extra cost! I guess, like me, you're bored with TV and sitting cruising about GTis! I managed to talk Motor Depot into £9k for my Celica - which was £500 better than VW agents locally - plus of course the great deal on the GTi. You lucky bu$$er being able to see them in the metal early! If you do get to have a look - cast your eye around for a shadow blue - I was told it's the only one! Thanks for the info - I've been to the Dutch VW site - but I really can't make head or tail of it!!!
BlackDiamond
Hi again Sussex, i'll definately be able to see them as soon as they arrive as it only 5 mins from my house! I checked all the usual places for a GTI and found the best one virtually on my door step. I don't know how to post links on this site properly yet as i've only signed up tonight but here's a link to the page on the Dutch VW site which lists standard equipment on the GTI ~ www.volkswagen.nl/index/home/modellen/golf/golf/uitrusting/standaarduitvoeringen/0,11027,Comfortline_Functioneel_D0Lnl,00.html Hope it works... BlackDiamond
You'll have to copy and paste it as it wont allow links that long!
jonathansargent
Yep - just figured that about pasting the web address!!! I agree the Boordcomputer PLUS does look to be a standard feature on the GTi and R32. Well - I'll just have to wait in suspense to find out! As I understand it the highline has a slightly different display and allows you to programme the homecoming light time... and maybe some more stuff! I hope I can understand the manual and figure out how to work it. Thanks for the help - you are dead lucky getting the car so close to home!!! BlackDiamond
Yes i'm hoping its a UK spec car also supplied with anything extra the Dutch get. I was told at motordepot that they didnt actually order the cars with cruise control as it came standard anyway so i'm hoping thats the case with the highline too. We'll see anyway... jonathansargent
as you say black diamond - we'll see. Whatever, the way I see it I am getting a new GTi for about £3k less (to change) than the local stealer wanted for a second hand one to similar spec!!!! Plus I got some colour choice. thanks for the advice...
JonoNZ
I reckon the highline display isn't quite as nice as the midline. The midline seems to be a higher resolution unit and the graphics/fonts/formatting seem nicer. Of course you can't set the OBC options with the midline which a disadvantage. lagrian
highlines a no brianer for me , its cheap and you can configure lots of options to do with your car, get audio track information and get the dtreet you are on if you have the sat nav, also does advance directions if you have a route active with sat nav. nutkins
Actually further down there is a RCD300 with FOUR loudspeakers that is standard on the GTI...
jonathansargent
I've just been in touch with Matt at Motor Depot about insuring the car - I have a reg plate number! I queried the highline and he said he was sure it does not have a highline, as they order them speced up for some people and they're an extra £40. I'm happy with the regular - my idea of fun in a car has more to do with the throttle and the steering wheel than button pushing!!
spankit
Midline is standard in the uk.
