Snail
Anyone know if the Nokia N91 works with BMW Bluetooth car kit?
Booster
Not unless BMW or Nokia have changed their software. Mate that has an X5 and another that has an M3 have never got a Nokia phone to work in their cars.
bazza_g
Lady T's dad constantly had troubles with his 66 series with his M3. If I remember correctly its something related to the various Bluetooth profiles - does it support Headset or Handsfree or both
Snail
Well, got the Orange shop to try it today. The N91 (and various other current nokias) pair, and allow use of the Bmw as a headset, but you cant use the BMW to go through the phonebook (like older nokia's, and my SE W800i) Dont know whats different between nokias, and my SE W800i, as i thought bluetooth was bluetooth. Dusty
Tom Tom does a similar thing (phonebook integration) and wheras most phones will function handsfree for calls there are only a limited amount that work fully with txt and phonebook etc. At least Tom Tom provide a compatability list however. Can I assume it's pretty much the same as your Beemer?? i-mate SP3 • • - - - i-mate Jam • • - - - Motorola MPx220 • • - - - Motorola V3 • • - • • Motorola V620 • • • - • Nokia 3230 • • • - - Nokia 6230 • • • • - Nokia 6260 • • • - - Nokia 6600 • • • - - Nokia 6630 • • • - - Nokia 6670 • • • - - Nokia 6820 • • • • - Nokia 7600 • • • • - Nokia 7610 • • • - - Nokia 7710 • • • - - Nokia 9300 • • • - - Nokia 9500 • • • - - Orange SPV C500 • • - - - Orange SPV M500 • • - - - Panasonic X700 • • - - - Qtek 8010 • • - - - Qtek 8020 • • - - - Qtek 8060 • - - - - Qtek S100 • • - - - Siemens SX1 • • - - - Sony Ericsson T630 • • - • • Sony Ericsson K700i • • • • • Sony Ericsson P910i • • - - - T-Mobile SDA • • - - - VodafoneVPA mini • • - - - (list for all features) I have a Nokia N70 and I can only use it for calls, it won't synch with my phonebook

PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Dont know whats different between nokias, and my SE W800i, as i thought bluetooth was bluetooth. [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately, it's not "just Bluetooth". There are a hugh number of "profiles" within Bluetooth. To get the handfree to work the phone needs HFP (Hand Free Profile), to work with a headset it needs HSP (HeadSet Profile), and to work with your phonebook it needs PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile). The Nokia N70 DOESN'T have the PBAP, so you can't access you phonebook on ANY Bluetooth car kit. I used to have a Nokia 6230 (which does support PBAP) and now I've switched to an N70 I've lost this feature - which is why I've been researching how Bluetooth works and what's missing on the N70! Soapsuds
i used to have a Samsung D500, but flogged it to my sister (at a bargain knock-down cost of course!!) as the BT profiles were crap - hacked a works Orange Nokia 6230 to work on Vodafone. Great phone! Works fab with BT connections.... Such a shame that technologies move on at different rates! The awesome N series Nokias, you would expect to connect no issues
PeterS
Loddrik, have you beeen able to access the 'phone book from the 6680 using the BMW bluetooth setup? I can pair the phone with the kit in the 535d to make and receive calls, but cannot access the 'phone book. Only changed phones recently, and the previous phone(Motorola V5...something or other) allowed access to all the contacts through I-Drive in the 5, or through the stereo screen in the 330d I had a while back Thanks Peter
akira
The reason that the N nokia's dont connect is because they are a smart phone and use the symbian OS

It all down to the "dialect" of bluetooth that the car kit expects and the phone supports.
