MOSE
A few of you know that my uncle owns and runs Barons Car Auction, which is the second largest Classic Car auction company in the UK. I've just been having a quick perusal of the lots for Feb 7th's auctiand this particular car grabbed my attention. At the guide price (sometimes higher than the actual starting bid) I am more than interested in this as a daily runner. What to ppl think?? Oh and feel free to have a scoot about the other lots as we Sorry forgot link 1984 Lotus Esprit Turbo
rhyds
Cool retro 80s-ness The only problem is that LOTUS stands for: Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious

MOSE
There are occassions when there are very late entries and anything can turn up on the day. As I mentioned to you this afternoon, the event is always held at Sandown and makes for a bloody good venue. I'm gonna pop by and have a gander and see whats up for grabs
R32North
Very nice car, but I'd buy it for the occasional run not a daily driver. Would be too good to use ever day, you'd want to take it out when the time/feeling was right!!
FuntimeFrankie
Prefer the Lotus, I'm sure you'll be prepared for ALL the occasions it'll be in the garage Give me a shout if you need a hand driving one back from the auction, (P-L-E-A-S-E )
v15ben
Great car, spotted one on the M1 the other day. It stood out like a beacon in the morning traffic - I thought it was a Ferrari till it came closer!
Soapsuds
a chap my stepdad used to work for many moons ago had the original model used in the Bond movie! I have a picture of me at 5 years old sat in the drivers seat I am not a lotus fan at all, but it's a nice looking car! I'm sure it will be a testing vehicle to own, being a Lotus. I have just looked in the back of Practical Classics and it states spares are easy to come by, it will run on unleaded ok (probably high octane only) and values are MINT:£10,000 AVE: £7000 POOR (for restoration): £3500. I am a little sceptical about their values in general, so add anything up to 20% onto them and reduce anything up to 25% off their bottom book in my excperience...... HTH!?? PS their was a Practical Classics buyers guide Jan '05 apparently (i dont have it or i would have posted it to you).
MattR32
The guy next door tome has just bought a Y reg Esprit 3 non turbo - Lovely car. Totally impractical and needs some sorting (he restores and sorts older cars) but makes a lovely noise and has the lowest roofline ever! Spent far too long discussing it already - He's hoping some of my "Lotus tuned" Astra's reliability will rub off onto his Esprit (I park next to it)!! zchybrid
If them old esprit turbo's could actually do 60 in 4.2 seconds..... i'll eat my hat!! I used to work at a engine tuning centre (rolling road) and i can tell you now from my experience: English wiring, boosted engine through twin side draught carburettors is a recipe for "continuos nightmares" Looks great, but it will drive you crazy, and will never make a daily driver!! . theduisbergkid
C'mon guys, feel a little patriotic ! Lotus is (are?) great. Fantastic styling, superquick, flash too. Just don't rely on 'em for 9-5 driving. God, I'd love a Lotus ....
