[/ QUOTE ] ford mustangs where probably more responsible for car manufacturers making souped up versions of their stock cars than any other.mustangs where hired from hertz rental by young americans taken to the racetrack and thrashed over the weekend and returned on monday The ford mustang was an incredible success story just like audi is today.just because you own an audi should not mean we cannot discuss other marques .the mustang in the picture in stock version is as fast as a stock s3. BenjaminTDI
That car is absolutely beautiful. As soon as I find one in perfect condition I'm afraid I will be forced to buy one, I've wanted one for years.

Of course you have the right to talk about it but somehow i dont think it belonged in the A3/S3 forum, thanks to the mod that moved it

[/ QUOTE ] Couldn't give a rat's arse whether it can turn a corner. Anyway, judging by their performance at several Historic GT races I've seen, it's rather better than you might think. And it sounds wonderful!
P_G
Sorry, not my cup of tea; the only American car I've really considered if I had the money would be; [image][/image] But even then it would be a long way down the list, just not suited for over here. garcon magnifique
Now I'm confused P_G. You see, the black car originally posted and the silver one you've posted are both Mustangs. Slightly different models perhaps (the silver one's a Shelby), but basically the same car from the same era.

sufu
Thats not just a shelby mustang gt500, thats eleanor, the car from gone in sixty seconds, the bodykit and wheels are custom builds, as are the rear scoops, and thats not even one from the film, thats a replica anyway, you can have them built from around £70,000... Just because i despise most American cars doesnt mean i dont know anything about them. What i do know is that they are not very good at turning corners, maybe the Ford GT but that isint all american! garcon magnifique
[ QUOTE ] Just like the fastback style on the Shelby GT500 whereas the Mustang I seem to remember does have a boot lid. [/ QUOTE ] Ah. See your point. I think I prefer the booted one funnily enough! I've always had a bit of a thing for American muscle cars. Mainly cos I'm simply intoxicated by the sound of a big V8. As for corners, there are some exceptions. The Corvette C5Rs and C6Rs haven't done too shabbily at Le Mans in recent years - they've shown many a Ferrari and Aston the way home. Mollox
Oooh Garcon, that's a close one. The Vettes were mightily impressive at LM last year but in terms of beating the Astons, I'd have to conclude they did it by default - the Astons were ever so slightly faster
garcon magnifique
OK, fair cop! I know it's not terribly patriotic of me, but I was pissing myself when it all went wrong for the Astons in the last hour... From memory they were around 4 secs a lap quicker than the Corvettes - better reliability and quicker stops helped the 'vettes stay in touch. Not quite the tortoise and the hare, but not too far off I guess. Those Corvettes just sound sooooooooo awesome though!
Mollox
Were you there? The sound of the vettes on the start/finish straight, especially at night when all you could see were the lights coming at you was just something else
garcon magnifique
Yep - camped up at Tertre Rouge. That was fun at night! Seeing them flash round from inside the bend and then hearing them open up down the Mulsanne!
