jnash
hi everyone i just bought my self a 98 a3 1.8t, i have a few questions first, the lumbar support isnt working, no noise from the motor, all the fuses seem fine any ideas or links on this that eanyone knows of. also upon locking my car the LED stays on for 30 seconds then flashes, reading the manual this shows that the interior monitor has been disabled or isnt working, it doesnt tell you how to turn it back on, prob just unlock and unloack again once again any ideas. the car is lovely really nice drive and these are the only things spoiling it for me thanks alot for any help Jon
s3geezer
On the S3 there is a button to disable the motion detectors and it behind the drivers seat on the pillar (where the seatbelt goes into). However, the next time you lock it I think it turns the motion detectors back on. But I don't know if the alarm systems are different on the 1.8T model....? sufu
its the same on the 1.8T, same button on mine, and says the same in the manual about turning itself back on next time you lock it, not sure whats causing the issues here though, maybe the buttons stuck in? s3geezer
That's a very nice A3 - congrats dude. I though VAGcom only did engine ECU diagnosis. Basically if your car gets an error code in its ECU, that's when the engine diagnostic light comes on. Well, that's what The AA man told me when I broke down and we were having a chat. Wallachie
Nice car mate, but it could look so much better! Get yourself a nice set of 18" RS4 replicas, clear side indicator lenses and lower it a little. Check this one out:- http://www.tyresmoke.net/gallery/albuo28
khufu
maybe there is fault with the interior sensors and so either the alarm or last owner had them disabled. VAGCOM can tell you how it is set if you can get access to it. I guess you best check the wiring and switches for the lumber support with a multimeter. jnash
thanks for that reply okay, now unless ive got mi ol vagcom in my garage, o no i dont just checked i know its from ross tech, but what am i actually looking for when getting this, also any one have the wreiing for either the alarm or the lumbar also ive just come from a vw polo which was lowered i dont really want that terrible type of ride, and what i was thinking about was slapping a pair of rs8's on there but i have a feeling its gonna look too high, and i dont really want to lower it, the car is such a joy to work thanks

[/ QUOTE ] There is a guy who parks his car a few spaces from me where I live, and he has a set of 19" versions of those on his Golf GTI. I think they look awful, but it's all personal preference. If you like them, then go for it.

S3ENVY
Lol, yeah. You don't see many modded A3's about. Speaking of which, I managed to get hold of 2 K&N S3 panel filters and 2 57i's if anyone is interested? Got a nice Piper-X panel on mine and didn't fancy swapping out. Will toot next time I see you, I'm always passing through Barnet as my other half lives in Highbury.
S3ENVY
Suprised I've never seen you Mollox, I'm hawk-eyes when it comes to other nice Audis, drives my girlfriend insane......"look at that, look at that". Speaking of which, managed to drag her into the stealers the other day she pointed out a really nice A4 DTM, never seen one before, styling was awesome but couldn't help thinking it would feel under-powered with it's 2.0T after an S3. Next stop new S3 or RS4 for me, now just to rob a bank.......
Mollox
Possibly because my car is like Streethawk in that it lives off the road and only makes fleeting appearances in public, often at night, and sometimes at speed
S3ENVY
Which area do you terrorise exactly Mollox? I thought I was way out on my own compared to everyone else! Nice noggy blue S4 and Avus B7 RS4 round my way.
