N3WOB
Down to 2.5mm on my original MPSs so popped into one of VW's approved tyre suppliers & they advise me that VW are only instructing replacement with Continentals. Anyone else had any experience with this and not sure which model they would fit (other than the tyre size of course) but are these likely to be similar in performance characteristics to the MPSs? SMG
I have been told the same xlr8 Can’t see why Vw should what to fit Continentals when the car left the factory with MPSs………..Must be a money thing, or maybe Vw think the Continentals are a better tyre. Good question by the way

Rachel
If the tyre prices are like here, Michelins and Contis are the same $$$ for the R32. I'm looking at Yokohama AVS Sport V102s for my next set. BTW - you'd only get a dealer here to recommend or fit tyres to your car if you were completely insane or had a death wish. N3WOB
Had a result, VW wanted to fit Conti's all round but their approved outlet couldn't lay their hands on 4, so have ended up with 4 new MPSs. £215 a corner non discounted! mulkbear
I all ways recommend Continentals for R32's as they help the way the tyre wears as the tyres are sided, not directional as Michelins are. 4WD Sports cars are driven fast and hard (most of the time) so a lot of pressure is put on the edge of the tyre's tread area, if the tyre was directional the edges would wear and cause poor handling in the wet (due to the aquaplaning effect cause by the water not being distributed due to there being less water channel depth) but Continentals have a area designed to be worn way on the outer edge without compromising the water channel depth and length. Trade Secret Federal Sports tyres (not Federal M+S tyres) are hell of a lot cheaper than most tyre brands(As low as £140 a corner for a R32). I recommend them because they are great in the wet and have a built in rim protector and are very quiet on the road but on the downside they can wear very fast on the racetrack/hard road use.
