bulldoze
No matter how careful I am I always seem to park next to complete idiots. I always take the following precautions.. 1. Park in the furthest corner, away from all other cars, if possible. 2. If the car park is very busy then I park next to shiny new expensive cars. 3. Always avoid, people carriers, estates, white vans, company cars and above all.. cars with baby seats in the back. Even after all of this, I parked in Tesco this afternoon and was in for only 15mins. When I return to my car a big dent is in the front wing where someone has reversed into it aaaargh!!!!! this is the 3rd and biggest supermarket ding in 7 months. PabloPablo
I share your pain - I had a Mondeo once which seemed to be a to$$er magnet. More hits than the Beatles. Try shopping online. Ok, the food is neither fresh nor what you ordered, but at least the car is in one piece.
stevie_d
I also try and park as far away as possible, however there was a study done that showed that we still have some tribe instinct, i.e. we park next to each other for intrinsic safety reasons...or something. However, that doesn't stop all the knobbers out there who can't drive for $%*£ Did they leave a note?
bobbypig
only one way 2 win here. I have an old cavalier as a 2nd car. use it for going 2 the tip etc and shopping. cost £500 and like all cavs it goes for ever. NOT only don't i care if it gets bumped but the irony is IT DOESN'T! No matter where i park it, it's as though the usual idiots perhaps think a sh.t. car like that is even more likely to cause damage than theirs.. I had it when i had subarus which don't even have rubbing strips on the side, if it saves just one major ding it's almost paid for itself.
SMB
this is my pet hate, park in the furthest corner , with no other car in sight, then come back and there's a 4x4 or a people carrier, 6 inches from your door, and no other car in sight. sound familiar? bulldoze
There was no note. You know I think the money I save shopping at Tesco is seriously offset by the money I have to pay each year on shopping dings. My last car was a 911 and the amount of 'attention' that got in car parks was the reason I sold it, sometimes I think people parked next to it just to ram their car door into it. or drag there key across it just for fun. Must be the neighbourhood.
Simonl
wouldn't give tesco my custom, can't stand there policies and the way they treat supliers, but hey that's another story. It seems that the more i care about my car, the more sh!t happens to it.
joffan
I work for Tesco's (Security) and I can tell you most car parks have smaller parking bays,to make room for more customers. Tesco's is all about money nothing else! Like Le man says thats a different story!

People just don't care what they do to other cars, just so long as it doesn't effect them. Scum. BTW, my GTI will be a company car. Would you park next to me? bulldoze
Sorry! what I meant by company cars was the vectra/mondeo etc boxes that some people get given, we have a pool of them at work and I am shocked how they are treated. People who opt out and choose their own cars (like yourself I guess) tend to treat them with much more respect.
RCUK
I know its not a popular opinion... but I park in the kiddie parking bays! Almost makes its worthwhile taking my niece shopping with me.

AlanH
I frequently leave a high-powered assault rifle (M16 or similar) on the rear parcel shelf when parking at the supermarket. This usually gives me all the space I need.

RedRobin
Hi Mose - I now look at your Monaro sig pic in quite a different light! What a glorious sound your motor makes - even if people stop you and tell you something must be wrong with your engine! That car isn't just a lump of metal - she's alive! Is she really a Vauxhall? Looks like the pic is taken in a supermarket car park....Everyone ran off scared.
MOSE
No she only wears a Vaux cos of GMs marketing. Its HSV DNA through and through. If she was in the States she would wear a Pontiac GTO badge, in Oz....a legit HSV GTO badge, but here in old blighty I have to make do with the V word which is amusing to say the least. PIcs in the gallery are taken at local Sainsbury's, but the sig pic was taken at a local pub car park. Glad you enjoyed the quick blast, hopefully by next time it will be different again with a few more goodies on it
RedRobin
Pontiac GTO The front view is much more American. Don't you go spoiling her with too many goodies, especially that exhaust note. She's just right imo and not too raucous. GrrrrrRRRRR!!....I can hear her now!
MOSE
LOL.....exhaust note will get a bit louder but will get a lot more revealing as well. Headers and cats + further remap to follow and will call it a day on the performance side of things. I cant really justify having a supercharger or twin turbo kit added to a car that will already be producing circa 530/540hp, its hard enough to keep it in a straight line as it is. But I do like the exhaust note of the Stage 2 test car I have heard and driven , it is absolutely glorious and once this has been done, I think that will satisfy me. Only brakes and uspension to follow and then I have my ultimate dream car And for a huge fraction of the cost of any other V8 you could compare it to! RedRobin
Yep, you could overdo it with too much power if you still want road driveability. You've probably modded suspension before (I hadn't) and it's a mod which many people overlook and it's not just about lowering. I'm ignorant about whether something like KoniFSD are even produced for your car but it's worth looking into because they deliver the best of both worlds. Has made a big improvement to what was already a good suspension on my GTI. Cheers
