Well, after saying on here that I could not afford to change cars I am wondering whether to push it a bit and do it anyway!

As much as I like the Passat I am just not as attached to it as I was my previous car(even though it is a much nicer car (previous car Ford Mondeo 1.8TD with 181K on the clock). I think it was more the practicality than anything else (it was an estate) as I love the Passat compared to it for driving. It is just I often run out of space with what I carry in the boot of the Passat and it irritates me.

The thing is I saw a Volvo XC V70 for sale (not sure of full details would only consider if a diesel) and am going to speak to the garage in the morning for more details, but I have a feeling that you guys are against Volvo's, is this the case or have I got it wrong?

I really really want an Audi Allroad but cannot afford it so this is second best as close to right price.

What are your comments on Volvo's in general. I know they are pretty boring but I need something reliable for work!

Sorry PC died just after hard drive in my laptop went aghhhhhh!! blasted things!! mad.gif

Thanks Alastair_A3 I think I saw that had a dream then realised 16K was much more than I had to spend!! frown.gif

I still would like to change and it is becoming more to get an estate as I am fed up of running out of boot space and much prefer estates for ease of loading etc!

The problem is I do not really have the money for it. So my question is:

Do I sell mine (2000 X Passat Sal 1.9TDI 130 Auto/Tip 84K) and buy what I can with same money?

or

Part ex and go a bit into the red after just getting out of it?

I want to change but just not sure I want to go back into the red, what is your advice oh clever ones out there!!?? bowdown.gif

Depends on why the concern for going in the red - IF its because you arent at the moment and dont want to be by choice then thats pretty admirable and tbh only you can make the choice. If its because if you go into the red things will be a struggle then dont do it, no point struggling by and having nothing other than a nice car (did I really say that?).

IF I am honest our A4 is a better car than our Passat and if I could find the right car I would swap both ours in for an A4 Avant, but finding a nice spec is hard.

hmm thanks for the advice!

It is not so much a point of strugling as I do not think that I will. I suppose I do not want to be in debt by choice is definately part of it.

IS there are big difference between the A4 avant and A6 avant, the A6 looks bigger but is there anything else?

Is there any reason not to go for a slightly older A6 avant (only reason over A4 avant is I prefer the old A6 than the older A4!
