Muppetboy
Reading through some old threads (I just can't get enough of this site...) people were saying to be careful that the dealer doesn't use your GTI as a demo or showpiece etc and this is getting me paranoid! I've never bought new before, what delivery mileage is the norm? What did you guys have on the clock when you took delivery? Cheers
stevie_d
I've not got my GTI yet, but my current Golf had 17 miles on the clock. If you've ordered a new car and it has more than 50 miles on it then I'd start asking questions...if it has more than a hundred miles on it then I'd start getting angry Oh course, if you've ordered your car from a broker then they may deliver your car to your door (not always on a trailer) and hence it may have more miles on it... durtydurty
Delivery mileage racks up on the PDI which includes a road test and I guess it depends on where they take it and whether they find and problems/rattles/squeaks whilst out on road test that need further examination. silentandy
Mine had 6 miles on the clock. It's funny you should mention about using your car as a demo though. After I had my car I took a DSG out for a test drive, the salesguy distinctly said it was a customers car who had agreed they could use it for demos before he collected it in a months time! cawky
Hi all, mine had 13 miles on when I picked it up
Mollox
I can't remember whether the limit is 50 or 100 but up until this point, the dealer is able to do one mileage reset to zero So those 6 or 13 miles could quite possibly have been 56/106 or 63/113 etc Not saying they were, rather that its something built into the modern VAG speedos
cawky
I am not that bothered to be honest, as the car is now still brilliant fun to drive and it makes me feel like I always want to take the long way home. After 8200 .
stevie_d
true, but if you buy a new car, you expect a new car. If I thought that some moron had been red lining my new car then I'd go mental!

JonoNZ
Mine had 17km, even got a pic of it! A coincidence as that's what the MINI had when we picked that up a couple of years ago. Pics taken at dealers on day of pickup....

Muppetboy
I think I'd rather live in ignorance with just a few miles on the clock (even if the has reset it)
RedRobin
I agree with you, muppetboy, no point worrying about something which is only a 'might have been'. What's done is done - Just get on with enjoying the car.
JonoNZ
Couldn't agree more red and muppetboy, I'm sure if there were more km's on than indicated it wouldn't be more than a hundred or so...
bal5sidhu
Mine came with 7 miles on it - and 2 of those was cos the delivery guy went around the block a couple of times looking for my office after unloading off the trailer! I insisted on trailer (even though leasing companies hate it as it eats in to their profit) after the last car arrived with 229 miles on it!
