Hi,

Ive got a 110bhp GT TDI GOLF MK4 (2000) and the performace of the car is not impressive as it should be, a friend of mine has a 2001 GOLF MK4 115bhp ESTATE and it seems to be way more powerful... a couple of questions, does the diesel filter affect performace? i removed my K&N induction kit and the performace feels more of less the same. could a service help?... the turbo on the car doesnt seem to hitting as it should....would a eletrical diagnose help?...

I think the difference you're noticing is because your car is a 110 TDi, and your friend's is a 115 TDi PD - It's Pumpe Deuse which means a fuel reaction under tons more pressure than a non-PD engine will ever create - that makes for a quicker response. I could be wrong, but I'm sure that trhe PD engines were introduced on late 2000W/early 2000X models.

Just read what you put about the turbo - the car should start really pulling at 1900rpm, up to about 4000, then it'll tail off pretty quickly. I know a common fault tyat causes slowing down is the MAF, try plugging your car into a VAG-COM program, as that will tell you if the MAF sensor is buggered. Also, you mentioned "Will a service help" - it dependas, if it's been more than 10000 since your last one, I would say get it serviced as oil changes are important on diesels (apparently)

Hope I've helped and not gone on too much!
