The S4 MPG game part two

As some of you might remember I started a game to see how true to life the DIS is on my A4 2.0t Quattro S Line, from memory I think I saw 690 miles when I filled up and decided to see if I could manage that milage from the tank.

The test was going well and was slightly out by half a tank, then the bread knife got hold of my keys one weekend and popped out, ruined the whole thing, could'nt be bothered doing it again.

Now I have a new toy, I thought we would engage part two, for starters the other half is banned from this car.

I set off for work this morning doing 70 mph average for 30 miles of motor way driving and the DIS got to 30mpg, started off at 15mpg.

Was suprised that the fuel tank did not increase from 325 miles.

I know some of you hard core audi V8 fans will be saying just sod the game off and love the V8 and I have had a weekend of bliss driving through the welsh hills with the top down and hearing the roar of the V8.

I also noticed that the car attracts a high amount of chavs wanting a race.

Will kepp you posted to see how efficient I can get an S4.

I would take it back to Audi, you seem to have a problem with your DIS.

It looks like it's saying Radio 4 so I can only imagine it's broken, or you're actually 71 in which case you shouldn't be driving an S4 blush.gifwink.gif

I like the way the politicians are made to feel the size of pea's.

Switch over when thought of the day comes on though as it is an excuse for people to baffle on about how previous events of previous days are relevant to religious writings -PAH - Nonsense.

I like the way the politicans can never answer questions and also have an ability to bend the truth

Picked up my S4 on Friday and so far have only visited the petrol station once laugh.gif. I got 230 from a full tank shocked.gif but I did enjoy myself though. Used to getting atleast 320 from the S3. I commute about 30 miles to work mostly on the M/ways and the DIS reading for the journey was avg27.6mpg, doing about 75-80ish. This is lower than I was getting with the S3 but not drasticly.

Have had lots of fun this weekend with my new toy and starting to get use to the power delivery and handling of the car. The warble the V8 makes is stunning. The car actually feels smaller than I was expecting having come from a hatchback. Going to keep a close eye on the fuel comsumption but the end result will depend if I can suppress the twitches I keep getting in my right foot.

That's quite poor for a saloon - have you got the 66l or the 63l tank.

Are the photos Moro BLue or Black? Nice whatever.

My 2.0T Quattro S Line was not a soot chucker

My bad - should read properly smashfreakB.gif! - Unfortunately though even the 2.0T is proabably going to be a whole lot better on average fuel consumption. I did have a 190 1.8T before the S4 and it could see 34-36 - if you were very gentle!

I assume it has the 66l tank as I put 60ish litres into a not quite empty tank. What should I be expecting? The colour of the S3 is Brilliant black and the S4 is Ebony Pearl.

Was you on the M25 on Saturday? I passed an S4 that can't have been doing more than 55mph. I can't give many more details as it was only in view for a few seconds. ECLIPSe.gifwink.gif

Cheeky slap.gif

Everyone who has seen me at a meet knows that I don't know how to cruise and certainly not at 55. 360 was out of a trip from Newcastle to Southampton via M25 averaging x mph (edited for law breaking reasons). I find the S4 consumes just as well at x mph as it does at 60, don't know why, just does. sekret.gif

But I've got to a point that I just don't care anymore about mpg, especially with new full system zorsts in place. heart.gifECLIPSe.gif

I have managed to increase my DIS 2 from 16 when I collected the car last friday to 20.3mpg through careful driving.

The DIS 1 shows just above 30 on my regular drive to work, strange that this morning it struggled to get above 28, might have been something to do with the temperature being -2 Deg C.

I actually thought it was better for the engine, performace wise to run when the air is more dense - my DIS must think otherwise.

It is amazing that a V8 can show these kind of figures and yet a 2.4L Volvo S60 (I think it is) that one of our sales engineers drives (also drives a similar mileage - with cruise on at 60 ish) struggles to get above 30 mpg.

Trully brilliant car - but it does rattle more than a saloon - is that due to more flex with the lack of a static roof and need to get an arm rest sorted out and cruise control.
