I had a 99,and i think they are the same, VW does not spend much cash on R & D when it comes to tunes !! I have to say i would change it an get a Becker Mexico, i have the blue/red version and you would have to be a real VW fan to know it was not stock standard, and the sound was a very very big move up. Stock standard is fine but don't settle for poor sound quality just to keep the look that the manufacturer intended, remember the Gamma unit was not put in the car to make it look nice, it was there because it did not cost much and met some bean counters demands on the car designers. And of course you can get the Becker sat nav units which are single din and look the same as the Mexico but with road maps !!!!

sorry for hijacking the thread, but seeing as it is the same subject I thought I would post.

I have a 98 car with a Gamma that lights up green, which to be fair I dont really mind, I do have a Kenwood CD unit, but not too fussed about putting in.

What I want to know is what model CD player goes with my changer control as I dont want it to light up blue, I will get one of ebay or something, pretty sure I have space underneath the stereo as there is a little compartment there.

Car is an SE model non AC.
